I lived in Hangzhou for a few years and it was nice. Guangzhou is probably decent as well, and you can travel to Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen, etc. easily.
I worked at a small tech start-up while my friends ran cafes and bars. Lots of money to be made because the locals often have no idea what the fuck they're doing, or otherwise lack the drive and efficiency to get shit done properly (with some exceptions of course). For a country with so many people, it's astonishing just how abysmal the state of its human capital actually is.
You can make upwards $100 an hour tutoring and teaching English to some rich person's kids. I made 1k over the course of a few days as a +1 "business partner" of a Chinese dude while attending what I can only describe as some sort of sketchy Triad deal.
Well if the living condition's are terrible and you think you won't end up learning anything don't go there.

All racist meming aside, if I were Chinese I'd go in a heartbeat just to see what it's like living among my own people. I have a belief that a culture and environment shapes a people as much as the other way around. White people are a certain way because of the harsh environment of Europe (much colder and less hospitable than Africa) so we thrive in that respective environment. Religion is similar. The people shape the religion in their own image and the religion is tuned to promote the livelihood of that people. One of the reasons I wish whites would rediscover paganism, I truly believe we would be better off with that than a borrowed religion from a middle eastern desert tribe. But not to get on a tangent. You need to see what it's like to live in the place and among the culture that molded your ancestors. You can always come back if you don't like it but I believe you will come back a much better person with more perspective.
