Oh fuck, I just reinstalled blockfolio after a year of not having it. Jeez, what the hell have they done to it? It's horrible. It used to suck but at least it was straightforward. This,,, shit,,, thing is like the worst Electron app I've ever seen. I was manually inputting my coins and when I out in my ETH, it subtracted it from my BTC. Wtf? I didn't say do that. Have to be really dedicated and follow market well. Not just on trading, but also knowing upcoming projects.
most of my profits came from Bitmex, but some ICOs such as HOT did help me boost my portfolio. Don't worry. There will be more Holo (HOT) in the near future, just have to do your research or find people that can assist you on this. OTC trading also made me some profits. For example I bought and sold BEAM for almost 3.5x profits. Did the same for a lot of other flavour of the month crypto projects, but this needs some reputation.
Recently I made 7-8x on BTT and 4.5x on Fetch, so again opportunities are always key.
I have shorted the moves and longed the bounces. Opportunity and timing is everything.
The people here saying BTC is dead, ICOs are dead are total brainlets. They'll never make it even if BTC goes down to triple digits, cuz they can only probably afford so little.

To answer your question, yes you still have plenty of time to get 1 BTC, but by that time you'll probably have more than 1. I've lost quite a few trades but that didn't stop me from continuing to pursue profits.
ex) the savage drop from 6k to 3k, lost a bit there, but overall not too worried in the long term scope of things.

For FA stuff, following a good source is best.
I follow (Twitter) a few VCs, and people like CZ, Vitalik, Arthur, and Charlie Lee. They usually have a good sense of market development and even insider scoops on the next big boom or bust. It then builds from there and if I find anyone worthy of following, I can get the best exposure to upcoming and current development in the cryptospace. I also used to visit websites like Coindesk regularly in 2018 for upcoming ICO projects, but haven't visited much in 2019. They still report a lot of good information but I think some whale(s) have taken control of their initiatives. FUD has been spilling more since late 2018. I'm looking for a replacement now.
In terms of trading, there's a few Discord groups which I am in and we exchange trades and ideas. The feeling of being associated and people helping each other out is quite motivational. I learned how to trade by following the experts. I'm still a noob but not as to when I first started out. I just listened and learned I guess. I actually have never read a book on trading, instead looked online for resources.
