Go work a trade, losers.

wh-what about an accounting degree? I'm gonna become an investment banker r-right guys? G-guys?

Cue the trade workers making six digits, but the ones in real life make about 3-60k

>No debt
Their take-home probably smokes most of their peers with degrees until they're all in their 50's. Although, at that point a tradesman should be a master with several journeymen running their own trucks... so they should be beating them there too.

I work a trade

It's pretty comfy associating bad weather with no work

Canadian plumper here. I make six figures in a slow year.

>Go learn a trade.
>Have no jobs to do because everyone trusts the established craftsmen
>Can't rely on employment from said craftsmen because they prefer hiring family.
>End up without a penny.
Wooow, great choice!

you mean go all in one trade and retire? how do I find this trade?

Is it true that trade jobs dont care about arrest records and shit like that?
How much money do i need to invest in trade school?

How does the job market look in 10 years?

Are you in the uk? This doesn't represent reality in any way here in America, but I know other countries have insanely restrictive trade regs.

Arrests shouldn't show up anywhere but security clearance jobs. Convictions are another story, in which case roofing or painting it is!

I'm an Electrician. Went through an apprenticeship. Nationwide we top out at what Software Engineers make as a starting salary -- roughly 60k. And my trade is on the upper-end -- the carpenters and masons make WAY less then I do. It's all a fucking joke.

Yeah, you can make 6 figures, but be prepared to work tons of overtime and travel, wagie. The whole time you work alongside retards.

Are the benefits nice? Yes. Health, dental, vision, annuity, two pensions, and free training. Too bad the average pensioner only manages to collect (on average) three (THREE!!!!) checks after they retire before dying -- usually lung cancer, due to all the shit you breathe in at construction sites, factories, etc..

I'm diving headfirst into the learn2code meme to try and break out of this shit -- hoping to leverage my industrial experience to get into PLC programming. Or even just sales.

The trades are a black hole. It sucks you in with the free training, plentiful work, decent pay, and benefits. But then it traps you with long hours and fatigue. Most days I wish I had stayed at Tim Horton's instead of joining the apprenticeship.

>"established craftsmen"
you are ignorant as all fuck

w-w-what about aerospace engineering though.....

22 year old poker pro. Made $30k from poker plus worked part time as a server. This year has been absolutely horrible. I quit to go full time but I’ve lost a ton taking shots at higher stakes. Currently owe 3k to someone and have $0 to my name. Looking for a job. 100% rebuild of 2 years worth of work. May have to sleep in the woods. Wish me luck. AMA

A someone whose a college dropout, who needs to find a career path, what would you rec for me?

>roofing
i heard lots of accidents happen
>painting
will i get cancer early?

I dropped out just in time.
26 and no debt, made 50k exactly last year. Doing about 30% better than average in my area, feels good bros.

Lol, get ready to be replaced or called out on your lies.

I'm real estate investing and hard money lending in California, am I fucked?

>AMA
Do you enjoy orange sherbet?

whats that looking like without your union though big man?

just about to do that now. I have an art degree working retail. gonna join a company that will pay to train and for technical degree. I've seen the error of my meme

>art degree
Yikes!

I actually used to love sherbert when I was a kid. LOVED it. I preferred green and pink not so much orange

yeah I figure the downsides of what this guy is talking about don't apply to me since all that is much better than whatever future I'd have right now (managing a retail store) ultimate kek

Seriously how did you fall into that trap? Are you retarded?

Did you get any cad training in art school? You can probably hop right into some shit without fucking with trade school.

lel
enjoy working 70 hour weeks in back breaking physical labor with 80 IQ spic white trash subhumans being your co-workers day in day out and having women look at you like you are walking garbage when they learn you're a tradie

Shut up poor nerd.

>be dumb high school kid
>super overprotective parents make all my choices for me
>they decide I need to go to college
>basically throw a dart to choose a major

at least I don't have any debt (they paid). I realize even though I've "wasted" some years I'm pretty fortunate all things considered

Idk about your parent's finances but they took a big hit to their savings. Your boomer parents might come back to you when they're in their old age asking you for money because they gave you a college education. What is your major and what school was it from? Also I'm curious as to how your parents responded to you not being able to find work.

Cursed image

I have a art degree and do computer animation and graphic design I make 90k a year, i am tried of lazy art majors meme.

I make almost 200k a year now and no fucking way would I have gotten this job without the contacts I made in college. The job I have isn't even related to my major, I just was cool with dudes who got me in on the ground floor and I worked my way up.

Why go college when you could just hold BNB?

Attached: 1539300654612.jpg (250x226, 7K)

What job, user?

I maintain the test apparatus that the people who write networking software use to test their code. It's a bit more complicated than that but that's more or less the gig.

How do I become like u user?

When you're autistic you can go trough college without making any friends, trust me. For most people here it would be a waste of time.

Be a computer geek, go to college, party with and always be nice to the other computer geeks, show them your computer geek skills, wait for them to become managers in a major computer geek corp, ask them to get you a job, geek out at job, gets lots of promotions.

Ya that's a tough one, I've always been a "life of the party" kind of guy.

Age: 36
Debt: None aside from house.
Employment: State worker
Education: H.S, some college, few certs
Salary: just under 27k

Married w/ 2 pet cats

Networth: 20k in bank, 2k in brokerage, dunno what the value of my 401 or pension is atm.

Retirement: Can legit retire in 14 more years at 50 yrs old w/full pension and other benefits coming my way.

Could get a job in private sector making more money but fuck it why? My current job is easy shit; no stress, no bullshit, no endless paperwork shit, no asshole boss. Plus in private sector I'd have to work 15 more yrs till age 65 till I could retire. My living expenses are low, hell I bank on average $300 a month.

Plumber is definitely the way to go. What a joke of an easy career. There is literally no plumbing job that can't be done by every single human being on the planet simply by reading a wikihow and watching YouTube.

A friend of a friend of a friend told me that trade schools now care about how high your SAT scores are now. Is that true or do they just give a shit about you having a HS diploma or a GED?

Attached: 1551131519000.jpg (800x771, 105K)

>Nationwide we top out at what Software Engineers make as a starting salary -- roughly 60k
wot? you guys make 55k median man, how is that even possible that you top out at 60?

Attached: Screenshot_2019-03-12 Electricians Occupational Outlook Handbook U S Bureau of Labor Statistics.png (573x248, 16K)

But I don't want to do back breaking work when I'm in my late 40's.

Attached: 1427584158706.jpg (799x1080, 249K)

Tradies get the pink slip too

Median says nothing about the range.
As expected of the board that calls college a scam lol.

What's the most disgusting thing youve pulled out of a pipe?

They work 60 hours a week. Also, bls is not an accurate source desu

23 years old. In the Philippines. Graduated Culinary arts and Baking. Worked as a pastry chef, 48 hours a week, $260 a month with no benefits. My dream job but realized that pay wasn't really enough. Now working as a call center agent, 40 hours a week, $400 a month with benefits and planning on buying and selling stuff online. If I could find a better job, I would. Planning on learning coding and do some freelance job. What do you guys think?

Ex-carpenter here. I got into it straight out of high school, thank fuck because if I had gone to uni then I would have been a philosophy major or someshit.
Like others have pointed out ITT a lot of tradies are pretty dense. I got sick of spending all day listening to top 40 and engaging in insipid banter while hunched over a nailgun. Also mentioned above a lot of the older guys were just always sore, and drank/drugged their way through every evening. I realized I didn't want to have to rely on this type of work to pay bills when I was in my 50s so went to uni. Currently getting masters in engineering.
tldr; do a trade if you're young and don't know what else to do.

anons, whatever you do, do NOT go into computer science. this field used to be great for making money while working a comfy office job but now it is SATURATED with jeets and chinks who will work for table scraps. also they push diversity like a motherfucker. please just choose literally anything other than this.

t. 28 y old CS major who makes 40k/year despite having 4.0 GPA from good school and internships

Its all very easy, ussually you can start on the spot without any checks
