the thing has infrared to see if the burger is cooked or not. When i was a cook back in my teenage years, i could never get meat cooked properly during rush hour.
That alone puts it over a regular wagie who doesnt give a fuck about whether the meat is cooked properly or not. This thing will pay for it self in 8 months (65,000 dollars). Gets smarter with each iteration and real time data.
This will replace burger flipping in 2 years, if i was a wagie and i saw this i would fucking seething.

Anyone who's worked as a fry cook knows that thing will be covered in grease in 2 days. I doubt it'll go a year without some catastrophic failure and have to be replaced. Meanwhile for the same price you could hire a cook for 5 years.

Also it cost $100,000 and can't do special orders and working as a fry cook you know that thing will be covered in grease in 2 days. Most likely will break has to be replaced in a year.

If you break it down per day with 12 hour run times it will pay for itself in a year @ $15 an hour. It will never take sick leave, nor have to be paid benefits. It won't show up late or take bathroom breaks. It will break down occasionally, but after a year it is working for free outside of some maintenance from time to time. The expediter can assemble the sandwich if need be.

I'm not saying all the companies have done this, but don't you think at least some of the people who design burger flipping robots take into account, you know, burger grease?

A rule of thumb is that employee salary is only about half of total employee cost.

This thing can go 24/7. maybe i was being optimistic on the payoff periods. The actual management can get those details down to an art in the first few months. The grease can be cleaned every other day. Maybe even have a back up cook, who does other things when the robot is working. Now instead having 3 dudes doing a shift a week. You have two grills with two robots and a backup human. Franchises can min max the implementation, without a fucking hitch.

They will enjoy cheap as fuck burgers.

Why are people scared of automation? Its one less shit job someone has to do? The burger flipper can just go be a box lifter or store greater. And his and everyone's burgers will be cheaper. More automation = less shit people have to do = higher quality of life for everyone. There is always shit to do we will never run out, the things will do will just get more satisfying, more creative, more interesting than the mundane crap that is easily automated.
