climbing the wall of worry with the help of bear greed edition
>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy? Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.
nevermind, wrong stock. I know nothing about that one
Cooper Walker
are you learning? if you're trading with your allowance money gains and losses aren't as important as improving yourself. control your emotions and learn
Novavax or whatever the fuck went down to a penny stock after they failed once again to pass (((phase 3))) trials. Would buying now be a prudent move/has anyone heard any news? Also I'm interested in investing in lab grown meat stock but I'm not sure what brands are planning on being publically traded
Bentley Rodriguez
My remaining puts are down 130 dollars. Should I sell? Are market makers waiting to see how high the S&P can get before resuming yesterday's dump? Or was it just a bear trap?
Jayden Reed
Yeah I'm a college kid messing around with his wagie change. I'm asking because I've been busy with school and haven't kept up with the market zeitgeist.
Christian Green
is there a general for fundamental analyses and broader view of markets/industries?
Carson Morgan
When’s the expiration? Down is still the way.
Tyler Baker
ty for try i will repost in this new thread
So I bought a ton of BPMX at ten cents a share
Can any stockfags tell me if this is good/bad/indifferent?
If you are currently 100% equities you could consider transitioning to a safer position as the market climbs. (meaning sell 5% to cash for every 25 points the SPX gains). also you can set stop losses if you aren't going to watch. It is such a small amount it doesn't really matter. As long as you are in a good degree you should focus on that, internships, and the networking meme.
the current market zeitgeist is that the US federal reserve won't hike rates. some people see downside (what is the fed so worried about that they feel they need to suddenly and massively reverse forward policy in such a short span of time?), some people see upside (the fed is a pussy waiting to be fucked, if the market goes down they will cut rates and QE so the easy money will last forever).
It is a bit of a mess. the fed should NOT have pussied out. The news seems to mean we will keep drifting up until the market can take no more, then we crash. but who knows besides Jerome
btw how does Robinhood make money if they don't charge commission etc. is it a non-profit wtf lmoa

So basically we're going to trade sideways all fucking year so the boomers retirements don't go completely kaput and the real growth is going to be fake and gay.
so MU moves all the other semiconductor companies?
Jeremiah Cooper
hey I don't like it either
I hope things get real frothy and exciting. I mean, there is still enough market action these days for me to make some tasty plays, but I want face-melters. I want trumpt to double the tariffs on the chinks and for Jerome to put his foot down. But it isn't happening. And the Fed capitulation is strictly a bad thing in the long run for the economy.
semis have been in a FAT bull market this year. if someone sneezes they all go up 2%.
Asher Turner
they tend to move as a group, at least since I've been paying attention (3-4 months)
Christian Sanders
im pretty sure people were expecting losses from MU, the fact that they can remain profitable during a phat DRAM price crash is big
Leo Jackson
Does the market get a boost in late April/June when people get their tax refunds?
Google just keeps giving me articles about how to pay taxes on stock market gains.
Gavin Johnson
Can trump please say the N word so I can sell some of these puts?

No, he needs to nuke California so we can retire when we sell our puts.

I had an order at 9.03 for 200 shares that never got processed. Only have 150 now. Sad.

He was unironically right about FANG
Jose Brooks
Alright, /smg/.
So, there was a post here saying 'Dividends are your friends' and after doing some research, I got hyped up and wanted to test the waters and after doing so, I found that they are either not your friend or I'm doing something wrong, so which is it. The pic shows how much I would have lost if I picked these 3 stocks, whose ex-dividend date is today, and I sold at the beginning of the normal market hours.
What I got out of this is that, yes, you will get paid a dividend, but the company takes money out of the stock equal to the value of the dividend (which makes me not understand the point of a dividend).
you hold the stock for multiple years and collect multiple dividends. Then you take those dividend payments and buy more shares to get more dividends to compound your dividends. It's a solid strategy if you're in it for a long term and not an over night moon mission.
Owen Powell
>buy disney call >immediately lose 15 dollars
Landon Russell
actually no wait, you're right, dividends aren't your friend.

A kind reminder to buy this AMRS dip
Jackson Peterson
Told you about the inflicting curve moving toward the next catalyst . >inb4 I’m wrong
You’re doing it wrong. You should play with Ex div date. Think about it. Stock goes on discount so A/ you can buy same stock cheaper for next divvy B/ you should pick fast recovering stock and not care about price drop since it will be absorbed by market soon.
With monthly payers it’s actually bit more precision work bcs rice drops are smaller than Q or S paying stocks
Zachary Davis
Lost $20k on Tesla calls the last 2 weeks. Is there a play left on this company or should I just avoid it? Feels bad.
Josiah Miller
They hold onto your deposit and withdrawal money for a few days longer than necessary, too.
Aaron Myers
The point of dividends is getting paid to hold. You're not supposed to try to flip what you own after the ex-div because you have a long term belief that the divs are going to keep coming. If anything, you use the div payment to reinvest and buy more at a cheaper price once everyone tries to jump ship.
Nolan Richardson
puts if you think judge will rule in favor of SEC, then calls afterwards

>inflicting curve Inflection point you mean? I don’t remember that post, I think you said you were going to post about the chart when you were done wok cooking.
Jacob Carter
You holding through announcement? Thinking the approval will be priced in by EOW. Definitely see it passing as gov wants non-opioids to fight addiction. Could be massive in the future.
Elijah Turner
I honestly think the SEC thing is a big nothingburger.

AMD shorts BTFO forever. What a bunch of idiots. I tried to tell them.
Benjamin Phillips
Also, since when does the Government work on Sundays? Kek
Jose Watson
The curve leading to the inflection. I think TA fag terminology would have it referred to as the cup part of a cup and handle. Anyways, save for the catalyst movement caused by traders, the stock itself is entirely manipulated by algorithms and very predictable.
Anthony Diaz
what did he say about FANG?
John Lopez
>buy AMD at 23 >sell at 24
Why not use a trailing stop to secure profit instead? I feel like an idiot for not using it earlier.
Justin Rogers
I hope it's just a dip. I've got 3400 shares of that shit. Dunno about you guys and your finances but that's a lot of my money. I have reasonable confidence in the AMRS meme though.

So (they) are going to crash the markets and blame Trump to orchestrate a unfavorable narrative of Trump's policies so they can publicly enact socialism and more regulations on business that will further cripple economic growth and personal freedoms?

if u dont know what you're doing stop trading - I dont get why you people are trying to beat a bull market, you can literally own underlying spy right now and expect at least 5% increase before ((they)) pop the bubble (and honestly I don't even think it will pop, feels like the tech market has been suppressed since October). Buy into the cloud market, it is truly the future. I work at a medium sized tech company, and nearly every company is migrating (at varying speeds) towards cloud architecture with container based delivery. AWS holds a huge share of the market because of how cheap it is, but if you are looking for a growing market get in Microsoft; they are stealing the market share with Azure; stuff like Azure Devops replacing VSTS and more and more competitive pricing makes them a much more sound decision for any company that is looking to make the migration from local VMs to cloud
