If you value their reference but believe there is a good opportunity awaiting you, IE have a job lined up. Two weeks notice. If you don't give a shit about a reference and don't care for the owner, just format your work pc and leave.

I was working 50+ hours a week at a grocery store in produce. $8.50/hr. I asked my boss for a weekend off to go to a family reunion. Fucker told me I couldn't so I told him I was going to quit then. My last day I really didn't feel like going to work so I called them up and told them I was sick and btw it was my last day anyway.

Later down the line I was working an office job I got a better job that paid much more so I gave my two weeks. The vice president came by my cube and asked my to take a walk with him. Told me I was critical to a project and asked what it would take to stay. Offered $30k and I kinda hesitated and he said $35k. I just stared at him and he said $40k "but the that's the most I'm allowed to get. Was still less than the other companies salary different and starting bonus though. But was surprised how easily you might be able to screw a company at the right place an time, maybe I could have played my hands better there but w/e.

The work was too menial for me. It wasn't even about money, I did not even ask for a raise before quitting, though I then used that job to hop onto a job with an effective 50% raise.

I just asked for a meeting with the boss. Then I explained myself and said that I would help with all the necessary closure for the next weeks so that nothing crumbles, as this was also not about hating the company or the people. They were pretty cool. Then obviously they tried to keep me but I was pretty sure I did not want to do that job anymore.

You need to figure out a crafty way to make them lay you off. I’d suggest sabotaging their core business somehow or getting them sued for something, that way everyone gets to claim EI when the company folds.

What the user described in this post here is illegal in America and he could easily sue for millions of dollars if it happened to him

Hey retard, if you're leaving on your own terms you don't lose anything by training your replacement. The only time you should spite them is if they bring someone in to replace you but offer you 3 months or 6 months work to complete the transition. In that case just get another gig as quickly as possible & fuck off if they're aren't giving you a severance package.
