here's what you do, you buy a gym membership and keep a locker, now you don't store the silver in the locker, that'd be dumber than hell, but what you do is you make 2 geo-caches and etch the coordinates of the geo cache inside the the locker on the wall. now the geo-cache coordinates on the wall is where you put the (false) cache, but you see if you reverse the coordinates that's where you put the cache that holds the treasure map to where you physically went out and burried the silver.

It is shorted massivly to keep it from being a store of value like gold, and also help industries with lower prices (just conspiracy talk, who knows what your peoples actual reason is). However if we do have a real recession, in which stores of value are sought after: 1. industrial demand will decrease 2. dumps are deflationary
Everyone is thinking, especially after mr j. powells dovish turnaround, that we are gonna have japan-esque scenario where the central banks "pump it" and we super-mega inflation to the moon. This is why gold, with the hype taken into account, only follows the index. Why do you think the big banks are comfortable shorting silver? because we are in a deflationary enviroment.
