I got in May 2017 and traded my way up from 8K to almost 400K and it crashed back down to 8K. So yeah I know these feels. It's brutal but I let go of it back in November when we finally capitulated and I saw that I got lucky and didn't cash it out.

But your story is similar to a lot of people (most actually). So time to start over again from scratch and reassess what would make you content.

Actually that's unironically true. Your ATH was at 600k in DEC 2017 and you kept trading from crypto to crypto. Which means... you were realizing capital gains the whole time in fair market value. At the end of the tax year you owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes. That's why everyone who wasn't a brainlet cashed out so they wouldn't be in debt to the government and everything crashed.

No, they don't. If in 2017 you made 1 million in gains and paid them 400k in taxes, and then in 2018 you lost everything they won't give you a penny back. The most you can do is write it off future gains or write off a small amount, I forgot exactly how much, a couple thousand, off your other income taxes per year.

The average boomer can count on 7% gains/year in the stock market, it will take them a lifetime to 10x their money. Cash out, and use that money to learn a trade, time to get your big boy pants on.

I got lucky by being one of the first bots on a new exchange which became popular in that time. Faster bots or bots run by the exchange took over the opportunities a few weeks later but I was already selling. I remembered 2013-2014 and how much it would hurt if that pattern repeated.

Same thing happened to me. Being one of the only bots with almost no competition is free money if you do it right

Mine was just an arbitrage bot. It stops working when volume dies, or other bots come in and make the profit margin paper thin and not worth the risk.
