>30 years old >100k in the bank >currently making 80k a year >waiting on the housing market to tank before buying a house but dont have to pay rent until the end of 2020 >no debt until I buy a house
hey boomer buddy >31 years old >net worth of $200k >currently making $150k/year >getting married in a few months and then wife and I will buy house life is good
>23 years old >217 dollars in the bank >earning no income for the past 4 years >no living expenses or debt I honestly feel that my life is already over. I know it's a good thing that I have no debt and kind parents to let me live with them but if I don't do something soon I can easily see myself homeless in my 30's and beyond if I live that long.

I was in your position at 24. Getting my MBA changed my life.

Way too many specific questions depressedanon. I'll give you a summary: >she makes less than me but still upper 5 figures >been with her for almost 3 years >she's 4 years younger than me >we talked through a prenup but decided against it. she was open to it though if I really wanted one >divorce rape is a meme. it happens sporadically but you should be able to smell that shit out when you're dating a woman. i've def gone out with girls in the past who seemed like the type who would that shit. my fiancee is a simple, conservative qt self-sufficient prior to our even dating don't commit suicide user
Justin Lewis

This is how to ruin your life.

I was in your boots until 27. Don't give up yet user. Build your resume and keep working to what you feel like doing
Do you at least want to run your own shop someday, or are you pretty content as is? I went from mopping puke to 6 figures as a technical recruiter, and I thought I'd be happy forever in a cubicle. I wasn't... within 3 years I quit and started my own business, and i could never go back.

>28 >was wagie until June of 2018, quit to freelance engineering (mixed bag) >net worth of -18K (this is up from -50 at the start of 2018). This includes the house, both my and wifes student loan debt and 1 car loan (we're considerably ahead on car loan and house) > less than 1K in crypto, less than 5K in investments, around 6K in the bank but fucking uncle sams tax bill is going to shrek that soon >married, no kids but have wifes 12 y/o niece living with us (all the benefits of having a kid, none of the major negatives imo)
biggest issue rn is getting my freelancing business clientelle up. Only have 1-2 customers right now so I end up with alot more idle time than I'd like, and not as much income as I'd like.
If I did anything it would be real estate but I cant see myself straying from this path until I am in my 40s. Will take time to accumulate enough money to buy and rent out several properties.

double major in CS and Statistics. companies will (almost) literally throw money at you and **** your **** to get you to work for them. it's probably the most surefire way to make six figures without getting a postgraduate degree. go to as good of a college as possible because people discriminate on what college you went to. make as high of a GPA as you can. you're at college to study, not to party. But also party. make friends with people who are going to be successful because you'll need those connections and friendships. get an internship at a prestigious company that people have heard of during your 3rd summer. and possibly your 2nd summer also. get your resume reviewed and do practice interviews at the university career center so you can get the internship/job interviews and don't sperg out during the interviews. try to find the person you want to marry by the time you turn 25 because it gets harder and the choices get worse after that point. lift weights for one hour a day, three days a week. focus on chest and arms because that's all anyone sees anyway. cats are better than dogs because they have free will. smoke weed erryday.

Thanks! Interesting stuff here. I don’t agree that cats > dogs, my theory is that cats would eat us alive without hesitating if they were large enough to do so. Also don’t think smoking everyday is compatible with the other stuff but other than that cheers!

Or do you mean that isn't from wagecucking?

>everyone is either rich or completely broke
Was Bernie right about income inequality?
Mason Young
Income inequality is a meme. If you’re working a job, you’re doing just as badly as the minimum wage worker is. Why? By working for somebody else, you’re gambling on the premise that that job will still be there for you tomorrow. Why put yourself in that position?
The only people who are truly not broke are people who make passive income and thus don’t need to rely on a check from an employer. Those people are truly wealthy and independent.
Julian Hill
How long have you been working there? Have you thought about freelance coding? Web development? You're not wrong, the place I work at is probably going to go under or completely online.
Hudson Gutierrez
not long, I'm a web dev, freelance means either working fulltime on self promotion or competing vs indians online

a bachelors in CS and stats isn't as lucrative as you'd think. Not saying you won't be slightly better off than other CS grads, but if you want real big dick money you'll need a masters
Jack Reed
Yeah but I'm still lonely and feel empty inside. I'd trade $10k for a gf that I loved who also loved me.
You should really look into getting a roommate user. I'm saving an extra $500-600 a month by living with a roommate in a 2 bedroom and splitting rent/utilities. Keeping my living costs reasonable is one of the biggest factors in my ability to save so far.
Jace Lopez

I really ever browse Jow Forums but your message made me pretty happy to know I'm not alone. I live with a parent, but that parent is slowly going crazy and occasionally threatens to kick me out. Really has motivated me to job hunt more and to understand adult life better. (The 2K is from random seasonal jobs I've had over the years.)
