I’m getting $500K from a settlement in a couple months. I owe about $150K in federal student loans from law school. I want to leave America, default on that loan, invest half the money in crypto, and chill somewhere comfy for 2-3 years. Then I’ll cash out and pay the loans off with some of my gains. If crypto fails I’ll just never come back to burgerland.
Where should I go? I’m thinking of Wellington NZ or else somewhere in the Netherlands. I’d be cool with some cheaper options so long as they are safe with good weather and fast internet
Lawsuit settlement or trust fund bullshit? Curious cause I’m suing my work

So let me get this straight. You're 150k in the hole. You're getting a godsend 500k settlement that can fix your finances.
You instead plan to flee the country and bet everything on crypto.
user that's a pretty retarded idea. Good luck with your New Zealand/Netherlands plan when your credit history blacklists you from every western financial institution.
Nathaniel Carter
>Then I’ll cash out and pay the loans off no you won't. kys boomer scum
Colton Allen
You don't need to default on the loan or pay it back immediately. Sign up for the PAYE (pay as you earn) program. It'll drop your payments down to like $700 a month or less. You can easily afford that and still dump half your cash into crypto.

Listen to this guy. Just pay it off. You have been given a get out of jail free card. 350k left is halfway to ramen retirement too.

After federal and state taxes plus repaying the loan it’s worth half. Unironically a better financial decision to leave. America is quickly becoming a shithole and will only get worse. At least in New Zealand my tax dollars go to people who look like me and share my values. Also from what I’ve read your credit history just resets in New Zealand, they don’t give a fuck about my situation in burgerworld.
Why wouldn’t I? I don’t want to be in debt.
Don’t I have to pay a shitload if I suddenly earn 500K? How do I get around that?
After state and fed taxes I’m down way less than 350K. Tax dodging is something I won’t do so those are getting paid.

So many government cucks and shills here. Listen, do not pay the loan, immediately buy citizenship in dominica or aruba, withdraw 10k cash, put the rest in crypto. Get crypto debit card and live off the crypto.
Henry Wright
Serious listen to this guy . Do not put the money into Crypto. Open an Roth IRA and max out the contribution each year. Go find a financial advisor with fiduciary duties to invest on your behalf and you should be able to live a decent life off the interest alone. Leave some interest in and let it build to 1mil and the interest on that will be plenty. You can also invest on your own there are plenty of proven strategies backtested against the stock markets entire history and getting something like a 15% return on average over the years is not unheard of. With that amount of cash you dont really need crypto but if you want to still play with the market I would put only small amount in. DO NOT PUT IN MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE user
Gabriel Evans
Don’t assume that I don’t think the same thing as you.

>I’m thinking of Wellington NZ or else somewhere in the Netherlands
Although I think those would both be amazing places to live (my dream home is in Amsterdam, if I had infinite money), those are both INCREDIBLY expensive places to live and also very tough places to get a work visa and live in.
In my opinion you're honestly better off in Mexico or some South American shithole where you can coast until you break big on crypto (if that ever happens). Congrats on your settlement though. I'm hugely in debt from law school as well so I can relate to your OP a bit.
You’re conflating tax dodging with not repaying student loans retard. If I make it in crypto I will literally call the loan provider and tell them I am paying the entire sum off. I’ll transfer from my hardware wallet to the exchange and give them their money. I thought you faggots were smarter and less cucked p than this maybe I’m wasting my fucking time coming here
based. Would I have to live in those countries? How does it affect my US citizenship?
Parker Ward
user after tax and loan repayments I have like 270K tops. That’s not enough. If it was a lump sum of 500K tax free with no loan repayments I’d do exactly what you’re saying
Lucas Mitchell
We both fell for the law meme. I got lucky as fuck desu. might move to Ecuador for a while instead as NZ and holland are both expensive as you say. If crypto fails I’ll probably just move back to burger world and wagecuck until the debt is paid off in 25 years
Benjamin Adams
>We both fell for the law meme Amen.
>wagecuck until the debt is paid off in 25 years
I've already accepted this. Hopefully crypto may help with the debt some day, but I know it'll be a weight on my shoulders for a long time.
