>moved into townhome apt 2 months ago >everything looked good at the time >started living there >neighbor in attached unit is high melanin individual >constantly playing loud rap music into late hours, and smoking weed and meth on his patio which drafts into my windows >tell landlord about it >landlord doesn't give a shit >eventually had enough and moved out >served papers the other day that the landlord is suing me for the other 9 months of rent ($14,000) for moving out either
how fucked am I? Am I going to lose? I've been having panic attacks ever since. I apologize if this isn't technically business related but it seems finance related and you guys seem smarter than Jow Forums
>Am I going to lose? What are the lease break terms that you signed? Did you agree to be responsible for the entire rental term's rent if you break the lease early?
You will need state-specific advice about the landlord's duty to find another tenant to mitigate damages. You might be able to refer someone to fill the spot.

God forbid you have to talk to and negotiate with another real life person
Elijah Anderson
Fuck him just keep dragging the case along until the landkike breaks
Dylan Bennett
There was no break-lease terms that I could find also the state is Texas if that matters
Jayden Taylor

Because we know better than to sign some kike lease faggot and even better to not realize a nigger was living in the proximity kys

suppose the townhome was owned instead how would it be different? is the requirement of down payment and credit check enough to prevent basketball americans from being able to share a wall with you?

This. Biz is specifically an autistic larp containment board made only for shitposting

Should have called the cops on your neighbor, dumbass. Noise ordinances exist, drug laws exist, you broke the contract like a retard without pursuing other means first. You could have even tried to sublet.
Brayden Lewis
If your landlord is turning a blind eye to illegal drug use on his property he can be in a lot of trouble.
this. you basically have to argue that the apartment was unlivable, which would violate the terms of the lease, which obviously implies that the apartment is livable. One reason it could be unlivable is illegal drug use on the premises that kept going on despite you reporting it. Of course you should have called the cops at some point, but whatever. Maybe it'll work.
Kayden Bailey
do you have any evidence such as video or audio recordings? i had the exact situation as you. presented them to landlord and cops, nobody gave a fuck.
i caught a lucky break 5 months into the lease when i asked them to let me out of the lease and they said sure. they gave it to some other nigger who wanted to pay even more (i was paying 2000 a fucking month)
lawyer up, go to court, have them plead your case kindly but forcefully. most likely scenario is judge begs you two to settle for half and get the FUCK out of his courtroom
Benjamin Hall
I did twice and it didn't work. I swear melanin folk have a sixth sense of something to see them coming

Yeah nah, you'll be right.

its a white system....make it clear that it was all on the nogs without actually being racist
Blake Murphy
>sign lease agreement >break contract that states “I am responsible for 12 months of rent” >landlord says “hey man you signed this legal contract to pay 12 months of rent” >WHHHYYYY HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN FUCK AMERICA????!!!
Brody Garcia
contact a civil lawyer and see what ur options are. don't listen to anyone other than the lawyer.
Aiden Morales
Signing a contract that is illegal is not legally binding.
David Adams
That makes so much sense when you put it like that. Thank you, Tyrone

Any KKK lodge nearby might provide considerable advice.
maybe go to doctor and ask for help for panic attacks and explain why? they will write notes in the doctor file and you will have something written down somewhere even if after the fact? ask if there is any danger to your body for living condition? meth smoke in apartment would freak me out but i really doubt it but at least some record that you were concerned even after the fact. make sure you have all materials stating any concern you had and pictures and videos if you have them. talk to someone who has some kind of legal advice like the reddit group someone else mentioned. when did you speak to landlord? how many times? did other neighbours complain? did you call the police? i have no idea if talking to the police about it now would help you, call a non emergency number and ask or speak to a legal person first is probably better. idk. just keep all the info and make a list of the people who knew you were having problems maybe statements from them would help. 14k is a lot of money if the landlord refused to come to any kind of appropriate resolution or even do anything who knows what will happen, dunno what kind of arrangement you had but i hope it works out, i can't imagine the landlord was keeping his end of the deal. Do you have city bylaws or strata rules where you live? Maybe that tenant has already broken some.
