Having 2000+ nodes running from the get-go is going to help the network get up and running. That's what it means.

US citizens were banned from the ICO for regulatory reasons, SEC stuff, etc. Thus, they did an indiegogo crowdfund for the holoports where everyone could participate even US fags. If you bought a holoport you were granted the right/option to buy HOT at a discounted price as well. Although the tokens were locked for some time iirc to prevent a huge dump post-ICO...

I meant new to Holo... Bootstraping in the sense that you get as much fags involved and personally invested in the project. Not only in a monetary sense but also in the sense of building a community that is interested in the project long-term and not trying to PND. The indiegogo campaign also attracted many backers that had never invested in crypto before, Holo is a unique project in a lot of ways. DYOR.

Holo seems to be much closer to being actually usable than urbit right now. Like sure you can run a ship in urbit but it's way too complicated for mass adoption and the developers know that too.

because urbit has autisim level > 9000 written all over it. can't imagine stacy and norman buying stars with cryptic names this os only attracting startrek fans and neckbeard sysadmins. holo is also easier to develop dapps on afaik they support multiple languages.

plus i missed the sale for urbit and now shit's overpriced. kek i have been subed to their newsletter for 2 years or so and never got an e-mail for the sale. but i am not really mad about it desu

i was reading a lot of articles and research about HOLO recently, and some of the critics were saying that "if eth sharding becomes a reality, then holo will be rendered useless." can someone address this or if this is just fud?

holo in infinitely scalable eth is not, even with sharding. but this isnt about TPS alone obv it's also about adoption and dev community etc. like if eth becomes fast enough there will be less incentive to use alternatives even better ones.

you can't build things like junto.foundation on Ethereum. there are many things that are simply impossible on blockchain.

no normal person will ever be interested in this kind of stuff, was what i tried to say.. only people with maybe a programming or linux/networking background. i am no expert on urbit i just think the project is too overarchiving, the scope is too big in a sense.

holo integrates with WASM and is a lot easier to implement for developers. there are even the first ICOs launching on holochain already so i think adoption is more likely with HOT

Both HOLOchain and FANTOM have a different approach to scaling.
Could you tell me why do you preferr the Holochain approach over skycoin and FTM approach to scaling?
