I think they also "buy" a lot of their own tickets to give away at charity events for "women's empowerment" or whatever other minority they're trying to pander money out of. How do I quantitatively prove it though? I find it very unlikely that Hollywood is escaping the terminal decline faced by the rest of media. Here's a vid of people sitting in empty theaters, but that could be a function of Disney forcing theaters to show nothing but this for two days straight on release.

I often saw such claims during the Black Panther release about its box office and appeal, which were all bullshit since everywhere online and IRL it was people loving it. But with Captain Marvel the hype is about non-existent and the claims this time around that are surrounding it actually look like they have validity to them. If that's the case this sets a rather odd and disturbing precedent for film making and brings up the question of just how much power Disney holds. Honestly, those mouse fuckers are getting too big.
