I work at a Pajeet cornerstore and it's pretty chill but we deal with shitheads and my boss has killed two people before. If you open one, make sure you're armed

I know dealing with shitheads would be part of the job but in a way that would be good, you own the store and you can be as much of a cunt to shitty customers as you want, you can ban them and just straight up pull a gun on them just say you were 'threatened' by them.

every cornerstore sells the EXACT same items in canada. i dunno if it is that way in other places but its very boring.

the only reason to even walk into one of these stores is if you just so happen to be walking past one when you're thirsty. or if its the store you live near. and there's an identical store on every block. seems risky, nobody has any reason to go out of their way to visit your store when you sell the exact same items as the store they live near or coincidentally walk passed while thirsty or refilling gas. and your competition is the identical store one block away, the identical store across the street, and a dozen other identical stores within 5 minutes walking distance.

same with pizza shops. one on every corner, all the same items sold. just boggles my mind is all, i dont get it.

Somewhat my situation. On call work so a lot of the time I don't have to do anything but shitpost. Still days I get fucked and have to go out for hours and hours.

I guess you'd need a gimmick, or be "that one store that sells that one item no other stores in the area do" and even then how many people would want said item/s

to me, i dont get it, every store being the same. but it seems to me there must be a plausible business reason. perhaps every experimental store that decides to sell different kinds of snacks and drinks fails. maybe this is partly demand, perhaps supply. maybe you need a regular supplier and its not practical to do it yourself. maybe all the regular supplies you can choose to do business with have the same products for their own reasons.

or maybe the big globalist brands own the suppliers in order to monopolize the snack business with their poisoned chemical food-type products. but i have no idea, just throwing that out there.

i would say you need a theme
stock some regular convenience store basics, the absolute top sellers like coca cola
but have the majority of your products as things people don't often see, probably imports. but then the price to the customer will likely be higher then what they are used to paying for domestic snacks and that becomes a problem. unless you could reliably source delicious world snacks at a low price somewhere in bulk.

and then sell people on walking in and buying these products they have never seen and perhaps dont even understand or can read the labels on. so there are challenges.

Currently work at a specialty cafe that sells imports from around the world. Think World Market but less corporate and we sell handmade sandwiches and shit.

It's comfy AF for such a small town, but it takes a lot of investment from the owner and the few of us he can afford to pay to keep the place running. It requires a lot of snap-quick knowledge about a hundred different kinds of international meats/cheese/coffees.

Basically: You're only going to succeed if you can find a niche to fill and become the Grand Master in your local area. You're not selling product -- anyone can play games online at home or drive to Walmart for a cheap pizza. You're selling an experience, something that they can't find within an hour's driving distance. You're not gonna be the lazy manager in the back, you're gonna be working the counter and scraping pennies into your coffers every day. Shit's not for the faint-hearted, and I get the feeling that you're not in it for the love of the work itself.
