Hey, guys. Curious if anyone here sells/works insulation. I am trying to come up with a good system for quoting rolled and blown in insulation, especially for attics.
Any idea on how these jobs are priced would be appreciated.

My buddy does handyman stuff. He charges hourly + materials.
My buddy does this. He has a truck set up and can roll up to any house and blow insulation into attics and shit like that. It cost more if you want a rig that blows sticky foam in between wall framing.
But my friend's approach is actually pretty cool. He has a welding truck for people who need that and a plow truck for winter. He's pretty much the guy you call if you need to get shit done. He also build ar-15s for people.
Be a jack of all trades and you'll be set.
>He also build ar-15s for people.
I need better friends. Jelly af
I dunno man, I'm not familiar with this type of thing. Let me call a buddy of mine, he'll give you the exact value of what it's worth and we can work from there
My buddy does this, he raids attics and sells stolen insulation for the cheap out of his truck.

Will you hire me
I'm doing insulation as an extension to my pest control company. I just don't know the market price of the work.
I suppose I will call a few insulation companies and get some quotes to better gauge local competitors.
Yeah, we're oldfags, in our 40s. When you grow up in a small rural area, you learn to fend for yourself because you don't have a lot of money plus there's not a lot of access to services. So you just acquire skills. For instance, I'm a mechanic, by trade. I learned by wrenching since I was 10 years old. I'm not certified or anything but that's my job. I do other things too, like carpentry and house painting. Pretty much do whatever it takes.
I have another friend who traps critters. He's so damn busy. Lots of skunks, pack rats and even black bears in late fall because they get really aggressive right before hibernation. Do you do any trapping, user?
I do not do trapping. I have considered studying for and taking the exam to gain that license. There is potential business I'm obviously missing out on, and the business is complementary.
You probably pushed me slightly more in that direction.
about 350
Dude, just make a rough estimate of how much material you will need for a given area, and then figure out how much time it will take you to apply the insulation.
I don't work with loose insulation like what you're planning to do, but I have a company that builds custom fabric-wrapped acoustical ceilings, using rigid insulation panels that come in 4'x8 sheets. We typically quote a job by square footage, so it's very easy to calculate

You'll get billed $40-80+/hr per employee on site depending on the company plus materials (which will sometimes be marked up 50-150%).
So get a lot of quotes and bid them down or youll get shafted.
>wrenching since I was 10 years old
I didn't know using a wrench was a difficult skill
I think that's his point, it's not. But most people are lazy idiots who would rather pay people to do simple tasks for them for the rest of their lives than have the experience of learning to do it themselves.
>tfw I learn to do it myself because it's easier on my social anxiety than calling someone, explaining the problem and having him come over and fix it for me
Cityslicker detected, wrenching is when you go out behind the abandoned Big Lots and give older men handjobs for loose change. It ain't pretty but it's a living.
that greentext is too relatable haha
haha wtf ive heard wrenching used in that sense before
Using the wrench isn’t that difficult. But do you know how to fix stuff? This is where the skill comes into play.
i did trapping of a... different nature
