My understanding is that the main reason for the name is because it's essentially Bitcoin but inside Ethereum. The name is fitting. Not scammy. BTCP is when the Bitcoin brand is misused as it has nothing in common with Bitcoin.

Yes it combines Bitcoin and Ethereum together. Its misunderstood and shoved aside as another Bitcoin copy when it reslly isnt. You are right about BTCP. WBTC also is not right in that it tries to bring Bitcoin to Ethereum, but still fails by being another IOU and requires a middleman. 0xBitcoin is a Bitcoin like token with the functionality of an Erc20 token directly on Ethereum so it interacts with its native system. Very simple yet genius token.
