>Those behind Bancor’s security breach last year have recently started moving their stolen ether after months of inactivity, seemingly to popular cryptocurrency exchange Huobi. The move may have seen them liquidate the stolen funds.
According to Elizabeth Yeung, a cybersecurity researcher with the Sentinel Protocol, the Uppsala Security Operations Team picked up on the move and analyzed blockchain data to reach its conclusion.
It started off with the “Bancor Hack” address annotated on Etherscan, which initially received the roughly $12.5 million worth of ETH stolen from the decentralized exchange. Following its trail, the team found that nearly all of the ether was moved to an address that then split the funds through various transactions.
It's gonna take an order of magnitude more than 25000 coins to crash Ethereum. Still, I'd set some low buys just in case.
Joseph Miller
And huobi's gonna just let them get away with this? Not good pr even if you are a scam chink exchange.
Jason Cruz
Won't huobi just block them? Surely every exchange has systems in place to mark stolen eth? Especially with transactions it's as easy as marking the next receiver of the eth.
Camden Hall
Maybe Huobi got paid off.
Camden Cook
25k ETH??? Two days worth of mining block rewards suddenly released onto the market within one day???? wtf??? this is going to tank the market!!
If an exchange wouldn't let hackers sell "stolen" funds I would trust them less. Slave mentality not welcome in crypto. Go use jew money
Benjamin Rivera
It seems that EOS and the 50 other ETH killers are really going to simultaneously take over ETH today. FUCKfuckfuckfuckf... deep down everyone knew this day would come. I didn't think it would come today.
Lmao, perfect explanation on why yet another OP is a retard.
Jaxon Gomez
Nah, OP is not a retard, he 100% knew this is a nothingburger. He was just trying to make drama as everyone else here on Jow Forums does, when there is no real news happening.
It's not their job to have principles about decentralisation. They're centralised entities, the downsides of that are already present, might as well make use of the positives - the ability to identify the bancor hackers.
Cameron Scott
I literally joined the crypto jew last week. I have no idea what I'm on about. I just thought things like this would have bought the price down. Glad I didn't buy the ETH
Xavier Evans
What does a 2 week old crypto newb buy then?
Grayson Richardson
The state of bancor lol. What a mess.
Jackson Garcia
I bought ETH and ETC. Got lucky this morning with the ETC but it looks like I'm going to lose all the profit thanks to how slow coinbase is.
Joseph Rogers
>Glad I didn't buy the ETH. >I bought ETH and ETC. ?
Coinbase is only an entry and exit point. Once you get into crypto, you are set, just transfer it out to some other exchange and do trading there.
Hudson Sanders
But why would they want to do that? Do you think a real world bank will freeze a politician's and developer's accounts when there are transactions which there clearly shouldn't be? Do you think real world banks refuse to do business with banks based in Cayman Islands or other tax havens?
Make no mistake, banks are the biggest clearinghouses out there and most of them are eager to be.
Noah Reed
He's trolling, no one can be so stupid they buy shit off coinbase. Not in 2019.
Hudson Martinez
Like I said, had no idea what I was doing, just when with the first result on Google. Been using binance and trying to cash out now and I've been waiting on pending for 3 hours. If ETC spikes up a few more £££ before they get their shit in order, I might just consider karma being a reality but I doubt it.
I don't understand what your problem is or what Binance has to do with it. You can buy and trade ETC right on Coinbase.
Joseph Anderson
can't transfer it back into bank as fiat on binance from what I've seen so far
Dominic Murphy
retard, BTC-E got raided for exactly doing that. Exchange gone, people lost all their money.
Jason Morris
No you can't but just so you know Coinbase has their own exchange called Coinbase Pro and ETC is one of the coins on it. The whole thing works just like Binance and the transfers from Coinbase to Coinbase Pro are feeless and instant. You can also withdraw directly from Coinbase Pro to the bank account you have linked to Coinbase.
