Anyone ever do this after building themselves a decent nest?
>50k in liquid cash
>9k boomer stocks
>10k in crypto
>0 debt
>can sell art for 1-2k a month to have some form of income
I figure I’m only young once and have my entire 30’s to be the best wagie I can be. October marks my first 2 years at a big boy job that will look good on the resume and I can say I was doing remodeling work for my friends company to explain the gap on my resume. Every boomer or normie thinks it’s a terrible idea but they are all broke and in debt. Has Jow Forums ever done this and do you recommend or regret it?
Taking off a year from wagecucking
do it. you won’t regret it
I've always wanted to do this, although I plan to save up considerably more before taking a year off. 400k in my 401k would make me comfortable
Im doing this if.crypto moons in 2019.
Every wagecuck is a fucking idiot nobody who hates their life 95% of the time. Their advice is worthless. Don't just take a year off. Take the rest of your life off and start your own business.
>70k
>nest egg
Uhhhhhhh excuse me what. I already have that and it is not at all a nest egg.
I’m thinking within 6 months it will be more like 100k but you’re right it’s not that much which is why I’m hesitant. I also realize until you have around 2.2 mill it’s never enough so why not pull the trigger in your youth instead of waiting until I’m 35-40 and have closer to 1-1.5 mill? Since I can at least make enough to cover the living expenses for that year through art I won’t have to dip into my current savings and I’m already way ahead of all of my peers.
Jesus Christ you haven’t even been in the workforce for 10 years and you’re already talking about taking an entire year off? Dumbass millennials and zoomers wonder why everyone hates them for being lazy pieces of shit, 0 self awareness.
I did and it was the best thing I've ever done. I'm going to do it again in my mid thirties. Imagine wage slaving your entire life without seeing this amazing planet.
>sell art for 2k per month
explain... i'm highly dubious this isn't 90% a larppost
I'm taking my $100k and moving to retire in Russia. Rent is super cheap there, like 100-200 bucks a month. A MONTH. I heard people can live off of $4000 a year if they live modestly, 5-6k if you live comfortably. fucking ridiculous. Even if I make $300 bucks a month from trading shitcoins on first gear, that's still enough to pay rent and food.
Yep another larper POS. You have no intention of ever moving to Russia you just wanted to type out some shit on Jow Forums because you are bored and wanted someone to reply with a (YOU). No one believes your story, stfu.
Are you a woman? You're going to get passed up real fast. This is why Indians and chinks always fucking win and women and faggots always fucking lose. Every few years you take off it will get harder and harder to get back in the game. Your peers will be miles ahead with regard to experience and skills and you'll likely never make it into any officer or exec position due to the fact that your entire career life has been on and off work
But by all means disregard my criticism and take off. Makes the competition that much easier for me. Get fat and waste time on video games too while you're at it, retard
taking a year out and then returning to the same job you hated is pure NPC Normie tier.
At least use the time to find something you want to do with your life you mouth breather.
I was born in the USSR and know Russian so I can easily move and get around there. I've spoken with actual Russians living there currently. I'm seriously considering it, if not retiring then living there for a year or so to check it out.
2k a month is wishful thinking realistically more like 700-1300 a month from doing murals, sign work and selling canvases. I’ve been doing art since I was young and I think if I could invest more time into getting my name out there maybe within a year or two I could be making 2k a month.
Not a woman, I’ve watched white collar wagies like you my entire life and guess what? None of them make it, the only ones that do either got extremely lucky at a startup or started their own business. Speaking of I’m considering using the time off to invest in a remodeling/ rehabbing foreclosed houses venture with my brother who has been doing that kind of stuff for over a decade on the side, he just needs the tools which I can afford and may even help out with some of the work.
See
Fren.
Oh if you are a Ruski by birth that's different. Please STATE that in future posts
Why do you have so much more in cash than you have invested? Anyway, yeah you should definitely do it, it sounds like a dream. How old are you btw abd whst kind of art do you make?
I'm doing this now.
Left my $80k/yr job to be a NEET.
The only thing is that I never want to go back. So, I've been trying to make some money online and been doing Ubereats and postmates so, i don't have to touch my savings. Trying to make this last long as possible so I won't have to go back being a wage slave.
>Boomer stocks at ath
>housing market is ath
>another crash is right around the corner
I’m gonna continue putting in 1k a month to my vanguard VTI but I’ll be damned if I buy boomer bags at the top like I did with crypto in 2018. Also keeping all that liquid in case I decide to start a business like I mentioned in my previous post. As far as art goes pretty much anything, I really like painting galaxy looking technological/energy inspired pieces as well as calligraphy and nature inspired landscapes and things like that.
>Sell art for 1-2k a month
How can you include this? How can you be sure you can SELL ART for that value each month?
I mean I can’t guarantee but I make a pretty steady extra 6-700 off it a month, if all else fails I can sell weed or something. I know plenty of pot heads from doing art and have a few acquaintances that deal.
I'd love to do this but don't have the cash saved at the moment. I have done it before but only a few months between jobs.
My plan to not go crazy from wagecucking is to do 3 month sabbaticals every few years.
Go for it bro.
I think I’m gonna do it man, I won’t lie it makes me nervous because of how hard it was to find my first job but I figure 2 solid years on the resume will make the next job hunt easier. do you think when you are 80 you will look back on your 40-50 years wage cucking and think “damn I’m glad I was the best wage slave I could have possibly been” or will you remember the times you used to enjoy life and follow pursuits that actually mean something to you?
you should do it. as I got older I realized experiences are way more important that slaving for money.
frbr
year gap will make it difficult to find another job
I did it
Ended up smoking weed all day in a shit flat up north, would do it again
Some people just don’t get this, and that’s ok. The world needs NPCs
its okay to hurt. you are not alone.
everyone is feeling this too
things will get better soon fren. I love you.
Did you not read the part where I can say I was working for my friends remodeling company or that I might try and actually start a remodeling business with my brother since I have enough liquid cash to do so?
This NEET is LARPing. Starting your own (successful) business is the hardest thing you'll ever do. Wage cucking is the easy way out.
If your only reason for starting a business is because you think it's easier or because you don't want to take orders from your jewish overlord, you're in for a rude awakening.
Successful business people have a clear vision of what they want to do and execute it, unsuccesful wagies who play pretend business do so because they're tired of being pushed around, but they don't realize they'll always be pushed around because they don't have what it takes.
t. bitter loser stuck in a rut
Where did you go and what did you do?
Dont bother, just put more into crypto
How are your savings?
This, I'm about to turn 21. I don't have any debt and saved up have around 10k thinking about quitting in June since December and do photography/car detailing on the side along with trading magic internet money. I love doing artsy stuff plus since I live at home my only expense is car insurance and phone bill (~140 a month) fuck being a retail cuck
I took 9 months off to travel around Southeast Asia. It was fucking awesome. But there’s some truth to the “you’re worse off getting a taste of the good life” meme, when I came back and had to go back to wagecucking I got depressed as fuck for like a year
Well i'm living pay check to paycheck. Doesnt leave much time to take off.
>Starting your own (successful) business is the hardest thing you'll ever do.
Yes it is, its also the most rewarding thing you can possibly do work wise.
>jewish overlord
oh wait you're a fucking imbecile
Took a full year off to solo travel after graduating and working for a year.
Burned through $10k I was thinking of dropping into ETH at $15. Enjoyed every minute of the trip and don’t regret a fucking thing. Do it and figure out what makes you happy at your core.
Firstly, yes do this. I did it for 7 months when I was 26 and it changed my life.
Second, if you can make 1 to 2k doing art then go for it now while you're young. You can do it my fren.
It's not rewarding if you crash and burn, which is what will happen in most cases.
Not sure why you're all bent out of shape over the jew comment, it's what most of these retards think, is it not?
I’m going for it brehs, I just have to suck it up another 6 months.
I did it once. Best idea ever. Now I only take on temporary projects and take several months off between them.
Of course I have no debt, and live real cheap, but it's definitely worth it.
>It's not rewarding if you crash and burn
But that’s all part of it. Maybe you’ll try to start a business three times, and fail at each one of them until you finally make it with the fourth one. Those first here failures will make the final win that much sweeter
>which is what will happen in most cases
You gotta remember, most people are fucking retarded. They start a businesses doing ‘what they love’, like opening a gym or a restaurant, instead of finding a real need in the market
Pic related
I've been alternating 6/6 months neet/wagecuck for the past 3 years
You qualify for a lot of good gibs and introspective power of neeting is not a meme.
You come out as a different person. Giving less fux, learning to play the (((system))) in your favor.
quality bait
kekd a lot
I did it. Traveled to over 25 countries. Best thing I've ever done and plan to do it again.
not a bad idea, but my recommendation is either
1. use the cash to trade periodically while you're not working
or
2. keep adding investments until you are comfy and don't need to work in your 30s - the earlier the investment the larger the returns = less work
> Your peers will be miles ahead with regard to experience and skills
99% of wagecuck jobs, yes even software development and in engineering mean doing the same shit over and over again. If you've done five years in software development youve seen it all, unless this is some magical 1% FAANG unicorn
hah neet losers,
>or will you remember the times you used to enjoy life and follow pursuits that actually mean something to you
I wage slave only 30 hours @ $28. Three days of work excluding time off benefits (some are paid) I have plenty of time off to follow my dreams while comfortably making more money than you ever will. My wife and I invest ~50% of earnings into real estate and s&p500 etfs, stocks. How do NEETS think they are winning lol?
Seething
Eastern europe here. Haven't seen a nigger in about 12 months.
Remember few years ago, when we could earn 10x salary in the UK, now it's about 2x.
Though still there is poverty in the former CCCP, being salary-wise on par with bongs should be indicative.
I just found a house on Zillow today that’s a foreclosure for 8k in a white trash part of town, 1700 square ft and 3 bedrooms. That could be my year long project/investment. Like I said if all else fails and I really need money I can just sell some weed, I’m already better off than every person my age I know. Idk why ragie wagies like Get so upset when someone doesn’t want to live on their knees and wants to salvage at least a year of their 20’s.
fuck off to pol
Assblasted mutt detected.
>be me, 23 white male
>graduate in 2017 with computer sci degree
>intern for a year with a construction company
>save up 7k
>plan on taking at least a few months off to pursue an app ive been building as well as some other projects
>i live in atlanta
>i feel confident to jump back into wage slaving if i ever want or need to, but also feel confident that I can sustain myself with my app as well as other projects.
>just starting to learn more about crypto, trading, historical power structures and currency manipulation, etc
rate me 1-10
What about the other 42k?
newfag/10
But in all seriousness, good for you. Sounds like you’ll make it
You should take a year off but try to do something part-time for money so you don't go too off the rails and end up NEET. The longer you take off work the less you'll want to go back.
what is your FA
>be me
>run an "internet business" for a few months, make bank
>don't bother looking for work after because depressed/anxious/comfy savings
>didn't work for a few years
>now broke, have a huge employment gap after college, and no experience in anything I can bring up in an interview
LOL same here man
im figuring it be better to just continue with the online shit as the main focus and take anything as work just for the immediate cash.
I'm planning the same thing. 4 more months of work and i'm done for at least 7 months after that. working full time is a scam. those who tell you otherwise are too chicken shit to quit their jobs and their lame ass lives. or they might have an actual great job they enjoy. but if you're not one of those, then go for it
find a distribution center job, some pay 18-20 starting and have 3 day weekend shifts. That's a great side gig and if you wind up in a specialized position you can spin it as some fancy supply chain experience on your resume
fuck off to africa maybe as a mutt you would feel superior there
I do this every few years when i get sick of my job, just quit and live from unemployment money and savings for a while.
There's 2 types of people who start businesses, which determines which way the business will go in general
> Business starter #1
This is your average /biz starter. Less than 2 years experience in the industry they are starting a business in, 0 experience with business financials, wants to get rich and not have to take orders anymore. This business will probably fail.
> Business starter #2
Has 10+ years experience in the industry they are entering including knowledge of financial end, they know their suppliers and already have established relationships and how much they should be paying for supplies, they know their market, they have been tossing around basic ideas for years and started the business because they know they can deliver a better product or service than their employers. This business will probably succeed.
Exactly. It's called a nest egg because it GROWS. It should be big enough that it will grow each year despite your spendings subtracting from it. A next egg is 2million, making 40k in dividends (34k after taxes) when you've paid off your house, so you can spend less than your nest egg gives you, and it's growing in actual value all the while because the stock prices go up.
What I don't get is how NEETS or basic wage slaves feel fulfilled. I oversee the movement of 1 million pounds of freight every weekend, I make shit happen, yes I work a lot, but I fucking love my job and after a weeks vacation my skin itches knowing I'm not being productive. There's a few natural wonders of the world I'd love to see, but eventually you realize 'traveling the world' is akin to going to see a shitload of poor brown people. It used to be my biggest dream, and now I don't think I'd enjoy it at all. I would however kill myself within a month of being a NEET.
If you're indeed able to get an alibi for the gap in your resume, I would definitely do it.
Underrated post.
I recently did a 3 month sabbatical. It was indeed nice, I've focused on music making and recovering a bit of my soul. Now I'm back to being a wagie.
The biggest regrest most people express on their deathbed is being too much of a wageslave.
In reality, what they are upset about is being so average. Ask someone that started from the ground floor and worked their way up to retire at a board level position if they regret their career, which likely ended 20+ years before they were on their death bed.
same i love coming to work and being productive and interacting
I can imagine it's different in those scenarios, but those are outliers. In the majority of scenarios, hard work doesn't pay off enough.
Get a shitty part time job you don't care about and spent most time of your time doing what you doing care about
Sorry but as someone who's on a decent track towards that, what the majority of people call hard work I call average or below. I'm 29, no degree, have about 20 people directly reporting to me, and actually get shit done. Enjoy your time off, but I've got work to do.
>explain the gap on my resume.
>not just lying saying you worked abroad or some shit
fucking normies on here
> I was working abroad!
> I can't give you any references from the foreign companys I worked at
What kind of Mcdicks jobs do you fucks work? If you're applying to a job that you wouldn't/couldn't list a job abroad, they aren't going to give a shit about a 1 year gap. If you're applying to a company that is going to give a shit about a 1 year gap in employment, when you say heh I was working abroad, the first fucking question is going to be
> Oh yeah? Where? Doing what? For who?
First off, dont listen to a boomer in an office job, working for some giant corp
That generation had the possibility to take all the risk in the world yet the overwhelming majority of them didnt
Imagine buying land before the internet
Imagine all those countries and all those markets opening up to foreign capital for the first time
My father bought a shoddy old village in the hills of portugal
Yes, a village. Its now been nicely restored and wagie boomers pay hundreds of euros a night to hang out in the middle of nowhere, just to feel free for once
My dad didnt only take a couple of years off, he literally went "fuck this im doing what i want" and he is his own boss today and employs a couple of people and does something he loves
He wasn't scared to fail. Its jot that his parents were wealthy, its that he learned very early on that a tent in the woods and a hobo cooker can save you time and money
Sorry for my ramblings
Dont fall for the trap
Corps always want all you are willing to give, so a gap in your resume to them looks like youre not the type of person that will willingly burn out for them
Fear is a massive motivator and when they cant use it on you they are only really left with higher pay or letting you do things you enjoy doing
I'm more of a fan of smart work. I'll be enjoying my time off then. :)
You're high in conscientiousness.
You have a drive to be productive and get inpatient when you aren't doing something.
Hey Bro nice aggro energy you got there
Probably a sales guy
Look
In the end...
Dont forget that and get out from time to time, this world really is full of wonders but if you decide to sell all your time for safety and power you will slowly but surely become the guy who never actually marvelled at anything
Thinking dca into boomer stocks and maybe buy some more more crypto but save the majority for the inevitable crash in stocks and housing in the next few years.
Pretty much yeah, and even beyond that, I need to be doing something important. I have countless people that rely on me, I really wouldn't know what to do without that constant pressure, which I really don't even feel. I'm adding to this thread, in between emails, in between rounds of mario kart on switch. My career is as much a part of me as any relationship could or will ever be. I chose the field I'm in after dabbling in grocery stores, banks, bars, resorts, sales and more. I have more than a decade of time building my skillset , and my employer has always been very good to me. I'm the youngest person in a million sq ft logistics facility, and I run it with only 1 person above me. My work is fulfilling, and very profitable, and only expected to grow. Comfy af at 29, I'll tell you what.
This.
> t. Ops supervisor of a sort facility
Been thinking of taking a year off for art as well. Here’s one of my paintings. HMU for a commission
One more, 1500 for a portrait. Send me pics and I’ll do it. Reply and I’ll send you my email
Fuck the boomers and the normies, those are little jealous fuckers anyway. This world is full of those. They're fucking pathetic but too weak and stupid to do anything about it. So what do they do? They want to bring down the real thinkers, those who have priorities straight and don't do stupid shit like getting married.
Don't ever give a fuck. Fuck those mother fuckers. Do the things which their feeble minds couldn't even dream. Go forth and kick ass!
$50k cash? For what?
Put that shit in a bond fund retard, inflation is cucking you
> He said from his mothers basement awaiting a tendy delivery
i will be taking a "first retirement" when i make 2k a month in dividends, hopefully before i'm 30. so far up to 700.
What are ur dividend coming from?
I ended up doing this when I was working a job with long hours and not learning anything, ended up being pretty great contrary to the "yOuLl GeT bOrEd" advice. My health got better, learned more than I did at my job, invested a lot of time into multiple hobbies, did a lot of important thinking about life and my future that I'd been struggling with for 5 years or so. Basically felt super productive everyday. In a new job in the same field and performing a lot better now because of learning from mistakes at my last one and my time off.
>business is hard
Only if you're literally
exactly the same story for me.
