Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Business and finance board

The Panic of 1873

Banks, especially Jay Cooke and Co. External Link, raised millions of dollars through selling bonds to finance construction. Speculators 'bet' on the railroad, gambling on the fact that settlement and opportunities to make money would follow behind the completed railway. However, construction expenses ballooned and outpaced financing. Efforts to raise more funding failed. When they could no longer pay the bills, Jay Cooke and Co. and other banking houses folded. The collapse of the railway financiers sparked high bank withdrawals, the failure of brokerage firms, and railway construction halted. By September 20th, the New York Stock Exchange suspended trading for the first time.

That came into existence only to move crypto from Jow Forums

stupid newfags

Are they though? The dividend reduces future earnings and I have to pay tax on it right away instead of when I'm old and retired with low tax bracket.

where can i get a small loan of one million dollars so i can finally start making some real money?

Those are imaginary currencies.

is "schadenfreude"-investing a thing?
>big, stable company breaks in
say Volkswagen with the Diesel shit
>you KNOW they will recover
>bet while low, cash out once things return to business as usual

i'm ashamed to admit that i have 0 knowledge about the stockmarket except for the wagee-rebated shares i still hold from a previous employer and GTA, where there's a string of missions to sabotage companies and ride their competitors moonshot. feel free to laugh.

Jow Forums - Business and Finance was originally made as a containment board for crypto tumors like yourself, but there are much better things to be talking about that are considered Business and/or Finance, like the stock market
You should either be moved to /trash/ or given your own /shitcoins/ containment board

how can I tell if these bumbs on my junk are measles or something else?

Unlike you I was here long enough to see it be a problem and also to miss the boat. But if you want to talk about crypto, I'm sure there's a great subreddit for you so you don't have to be reminded of your failures in the crypto market fren

The entire crypto market is a joke kept aloft solely by hype and speculation
Any serious adoption of blockchain technology will come in the form of governments and companies making their own tokens, as history has shown

Much preferable to LE FUNNY BEAR WOJAK AND LE FUNNY RED WOJAK edits. Have fun, last (You) for you.

1. companies with dividends don't need the money usually. most good companies have a payout ratio of less than 60 percent (unless its a REIT or otherwise required to pay more out)

2. You can get around the tax by putting your divvy producing stock in a tax differed account.

3. with enough divvies, you will never need to sell any principal and can develop a yield on cost so high that is can provide a substantial chuck of your total capital investment on an annual basis (see Buffett and his KO divvy yield on cost)

The vast majority of coins in existence have absolutely no real life use whatsoever and exist solely as a vehicle for speculation, and the only real use bitcoin has over fiat currencies is buying drugs on tor
When have you ever used crypto to buy something other than drugs

Look when their earnings are purchase some puts, close ahead of earnings.

You seem like someone who is easy to rape.

step 1. detach your penis. you should have learned how to do this in elementary school on penis inspection day

step 2. take a SOFT bristle brush and clean the unit carefully. use dish soap if necessary

step 3. eat it

step 4. ?????

step 5. you're done, because you have no penis there is no need to worry about the bumbs on it.

step 6. get tested for measles and herp, if it isn't either you don't need to do steps 1 through 5 but if you did, sucks to be you

Youd be surprised how hard it am to resist once you've been knocked around and pinned down T_T

The problems had emerged around 1870, starting in Europe. In the Austro-Hungarian Empire, formed in 1867, in the states unified by Prussia into the German empire, and in France, the emperors supported a flowering of new lending institutions that issued mortgages for municipal and residential construction, especially in the capitals of Vienna, Berlin, and Paris.Mortgages were easier to obtain than before, and a building boom commenced.Land values seemed to climb and climb; borrowers assumed more and more credit, using unbuilt or half-built houses as collateral. But the economic fundamentals were shaky.
Wheat exporters from Russia and Central Europe faced a new international competitor who drastically undersold them.

The 19th-century version of containers manufactured in China and bound for Wal-Mart consisted of produce from farmers in the American Midwest. They used grain elevators, conveyer belts, and massive steam ships to export trainloads of wheat to abroad.

Britain, the biggest importer of wheat, shifted to the cheap wheat quite suddenly around 1871.

By 1872 kerosene and manufactured food were rocketing out of America’s heartland, undermining rapeseed, flour, and beef prices.

The crash came in Central Europe in May 1873, as it became clear that the region’s assumptions about continual economic growth were too optimistic.

Europeans faced what they came to call the American Commercial Invasion. A new industrial superpower had arrived, one whose low costs threatened European trade and a European way of life.

As continental banks tumbled, British banks held back their capital, unsure of which institutions were most involved in the mortgage crisis.

The cost to borrow money from another bank — the interbank lending rate — reached impossibly high rates.

This banking crisis hit the United States in the fall of 1873.

What the heckies am "rapeseed" O_O ?

A major economic reversal began in Europe and reached the United States in the fall of 1873. The signal event on this side of the Atlantic was the failure of Jay Cooke and Company, the country’s preeminent investment banking concern. The firm was the principal backer of the Northern Pacific Railroad and had handled most of the government’s wartime loans, using a widespread sales campaign back by advertising to sell bonds to people who had never before owned securities.

Cooke’s fall touched off a series of events that encompassed the entire nation. The New York Stock Exchange was closed for 10 days. Credit dried up, foreclosures were common and banks failed. Factories closed their doors, costing thousands of workers' jobs. The volume of destitute people soon overwhelmed the abilities of charities to function. Most of the major railroads failed.

The public tended to blame President Grant and Congress for mishandling the economy. The causes were much broader, however. The postwar period was one of frenetic, unregulated growth with the government playing no role in curbing abuses. More than any other single event, the extreme overbuilding of the nation’s railroad system laid the groundwork of the Panic and the depression that followed. Recovery was not realized until 1878.

In addition to the ruined fortunes of many Americans, there developed from the Panic of 1873 bitter antagonism between workers and the leaders of banking and manufacturing. This tension would erupt into the labor unrest that marked the following decades.

Repost but anybody watching NVTA? It's been going up steadily for a while and I can't figure out why. Seems like a correction is coming soon so I hopped off but I'm still watching closely and wondering if anybody else is holding

Those will probably be worthless if they're for friday. I have one too and immediately regretted buying it. Otherwise I have some 200 and 197.5 for the 18th

Colza. Cheaper than olive oil, with a nutty flavour.

its for friday, what a fucking week.
Im just hoping to break even now.

I mean if you've been watching AAPL today you'd have seen large bids hitting all sorts of limit sells, this run mustve attracted a lotta baggies. There's no absence of buyers and sellers are unpanicked.

Tell me about it, every calculation I'd made playing the SPY was correct and I was all set yesterday to make my exit with a cool 5000 dollars, but then Trump ruined my life with a tweet.

Thanks, historyanon.

yah yah broke 2hundo

Fed minutes were a buy signal I guess? Or maybe we were just holding off until they released fearing a sell signal?

my IP range has been banned from posting on Jow Forums for months
faq says its temporary but guess not ...

Everytime I place a 69 limit order on NATH the price immediately drops to 69.01 this is SHENANIGINS

>Thinks fed minutes are a buy signal
Not gonna make it

Attached: uncle_powell_time_look_at_the_time_2.png (418x455, 119K)

They obviously were, since buying happened after they were released, Brainlet.

do you know Canola?

Attached: raps.jpg (445x166, 19K)

Just bought 250 shares of DF. We're gonna make it.

Attached: 1427212061689.gif (240x176, 852K)

Major indexes still flat brainlet. Fed open to possibility of hiking rates... How is that a buy signal again?

Because buying happened after it was released along with increased volume at 2pm sharp. I don't think you know what a buy signal is.

Ok frens that are holding MCD, I just went out and purchased a Bacon Smokeass Artisan Signature Crafted quarter pound sandwich from one of your eateries. I'm going to tell you how it is.

AAPL is all over the place. I've got no clue.

Increased buying = indexes slighty negative now... thanks
