Not owning anything is the future, apparently. npr.org
Millennials are fine with this
You cant like..own land dude
>(Note: REI and WeWork are among NPR's financial sponsors.)
They have brainwashed millennials or zoomers rather to the point of them thinking that it is their own choice to live in a one bedroom apartment that they rent for $5k per month while eating nothing but vegetables.
vegetables are expensive
I would rather live like a depression-era farmer in a mud hut than that shit. Do you invite women back to your communal living bunk bed at night? How the fuck do you develop hobbies if you don't own any of your own shit?
Jesus fucking christ
dude you just don’t get it bro
It’s another way for rich people to virtue signal or for poorfags to cope
That note really should have been at the top.
>"We're selling joy," he says
fire, pls die inna
Truth.
The rich will run back to their parents mansions and will buy homes when they marry. The dumb poor kids with end up fucked when they hit late 30s and the rich kids at their pod hotel start thinking they are creepy.
America started collapsing in 1974 and we've just been on pause up until 2018.
You're going to see Americans subsistence farming and being peasants on the outskirts of ruined cities before you will get people who agree to live like this.
Absolute cringe, where the fuck do you live? Appalachia or WV?
No reason to own anything until you can move into one of the Crypto Citadels.
You really can't. Property taxes? Fail to pay those and the G-man can just take "your land".
>Crypto Citadels
hey user. can you redpill me / quick run down on this / these?
"What is a Citadel?" you might wonder. Well, by the time Bitcoin became worth 100,000 dollar, services began to emerge for the "Bitcoin rich" to protect themselves as well as their wealth. It started with expensive safes, then began to include bodyguards, and today, "earlies" (our term for early adapters), as well as those rich whose wealth survived the "transition" live in isolated gated cities called Citadels, where most work is automated. Most such Citadels are born out of the fortification used to protect places where Bitcoin mining machines and data centers are located.
Worst part is I am going to work hard and save my money. Buy a home then have a bunch of poor people protesting outside my house in 50 years telling me to give it to the government and I am not allowed to give it to my children after I die. Might even kill me then ransack my home.
Why won't leftists allow me to live the way I want?
It's better to be dead. You don't need to keep up with anything and just rot until your skeleton disintegrates and occupies nothingness.
lol no. you have to own land to be a farmer. so for poor people thats not an option. your best bet would be to just be a train bum or take your chances illegal camping in a national forest. If your smart about it you could probably build a small cabin and have a small garden and no one would ever know you were there.
Americans are relatively lucky of they dont want to live this life. I see tons of cozy log cabins online in rural areas with loads of land for like 200k. In the UK there is no escape. Even the rural areas are expensive.
The worst part is that you will be the one not to own anything after working hard for years.
the reason homes cost so much is because suckers like you continue to work your lives away for pennies to buy them. the are literally just boxes, they were never intended to be investment vehicles. the banks turned them into investments because they couldn't make money lending anymore. they needed something in between. something people need and they would be forced to pay. thus each investment insures itself for any loss it incurs. In fact there is no loss. ever. That's why the home is such a great medium for the banks.
you goyim will never understand. they've been running this show since the 30's at least maybe even earlier.
Really fucking hate this shit. I especially hate the people who will go after a upper middle class businessman with a nice car and a nice house instead of the people like the bankers and politicians who have been fucking them over.
My grandfather and his brother still owns a farm that has been in the family since the 1700's.
When my fathers business took a massive dip for 3 years had somewhere to stay because he owned a home. Home ownership is by far the best way at protecting yourself against a metric shit ton of things that can go wrong.
I cannot be thrown out of my primary residence because of taxes, I can live without electricity if things get really bad. Home ownership is one of the foundations having security in your life. I don't live in America so I don't have shitty woodboxes that take thousands in maintenance each year.
I want a home and I want it on a plot of land large enough so my kids can stay there indefinitely if they want to.
>Wanting a home as an investment vehicle
>Property taxes? Pay those every year on time and the G-man can just buy "your land" for a fraction of what it's worth.
FTFY
get a load of this goy. didn't hear a word i said.
and you didn't hear a word I said.
this
It's make-do rationnalized as anti-materialism
If it was a legit orientation of being happy with less, why would they work ful time. If the economy/job market was as good as their parents had, they'd either have the same lifestyle as their parents or would finance this XXIst century nomad lifestyle working 10 hours a week.
The article itself says the two main factors are student debt and housing prices
Where is that holocaustpod shop that one user did? That shit was hilarious.
They fuck are you talking about?
I guess I'm one of these fags. Been living out of a suitcase for 8 months just traveling from Ace to place staying for a month or two at a time. It's actually amazing. I have zero bills besides a cell phone bill and whatever housing I end up in. Trading crypto until I make it.
You can buy a farm cottage in Scotland for 50k easily
