It's just the whole atmosphere of universities these days. For example, the lift was out of order for a day and people were bitching about people with disabilities. Of which there were none in my building, save a super fat girl who always rode the lift. I suggested to my colleagues she wouldn't be so fat if she used the stairs instead of the lift occasionally. It was complete, deafening silence. Felt good though. But I've said similar and worse to colleagues (straight males) in business settings and had always had great laughs.

Sort of, I tried going without saying anything thinking maybe just maybe could pull through. The very first question was "what other universities have you applied to" and I was beyond stressed by that point, broke down and said truth at first academic question.

Grades in NA are way different than in the UK. Grade inflation is rampant. The most common grade in Ivy colleges is now an A and the median GPA is an A-. A+ and A give the same GPA, mind you.

You've got to get certain grades on your final exams (the offer). If you've got a vaguely realistic chance of meeting that unis offer you'll be given one. Offers range from absolutely nothing for Foundation years at worst universities to A*A*A at the most selective courses.

The only exception is Oxbridge where it's harder to get the offer then meet it.
