Beyond meat IPO launched today, price surged over 150%. Burger king is launching the impossible whopper at all locations by the end of this year. Is plant based meat the new crypto?
Beyond meat IPO launched today, price surged over 150%...
It surged before open trading, so it's more like the new pump and dump. It's going to go back down, but it might be a solid long term hold as they expand into other meat alternatives.
Will there be another pump tomorrow?
Should I go all in?
I don't know, I was thinking of putting half my broweed stocks into it but im a pussy when it comes to trading.
No if you buy in you’re gonna baghold
3 days for IPO’s and for this I’d hold for options and buy a few 50-40$ puts
>touching IPO's
>ever
Buy short term. Short long term. Once normies realize that the same instruments with real meat juice are touching their vegan burgers it will fail.
only if you get it at a restaurant, even so beyond meat and impossible foods are targeting meat eaters that want a healthier alternative on occasion that they can feel good about.
"lab-grown" meat companies will be the new crypto in terms of %%%%
Beyond Meat isn't really healthier than actual meat though. Not by a lot anyway. This could be a problem for them.
>comparing the highly processed "meat imitation product" to the pinnacle of natural foods - meat.
It depends what aspects your looking at. In terms of protein quality its much worse and lacks the amino acids that meat has. However It has less calories and less cholesterol.
There is a lot of research and development that needs to be done to bring the price down. Plant based meats are here now and gaining traction fast.
It's definitely a good concept. I'm anything but vegetarian but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy the hell out of a veggie burger.
I just don't see a supplier being the one to strike it rich. What you are waiting for is the fast casual chain that finally figures out a populist approach to vegetarian options.
I am a lifelong vegetarian because of the way I was raised. Your right most vegetarian options are lacking because the proteins that are available suck. Beyond and Impossible foods are not only the most realistic imitation meats and the amount of "science" that goes into them means that restaurants can't recreate it and would be forced to buy from the supplier.
I have nothing against veggie burgers at all, but who in their right mind wants to eat meat flavored veggies? Like... fuck man, what am I missing? There's plenty of decent tasting vegetarian options, who the hell wants the mega-fake meaty flavored variety? This is approaching Inception levels of food-fuckery.
no it's genius. they target vegetarians who want to have the taste of meat and meat eaters who want a healthier alternative to their burgers
>beyond meat priced at $25
>beyond meat halted
>beyond meat institutional buyers drive price up to $46
>beyond meat finally opens to public at $46
>media headlines:
"OMFG BEYOND MEAT OPENS 76% ABOVE IPO PRICE THE PUBLIC IS GOING CRAZY FOR IT!!"
why do we accept their blatant lies?
The average person will never consider buying veggie burgers unless the price per pound is significantly less than actual meat. This stuff is way too expensive
I heard they taste like shit and they're more expensive. Might be good for the europlebian market, but the Americans that eat at Burger King don't want to pay more for a onions burger.
Yea I feel like this is something most people try once or twice then forget about. Boca Burgers have existed forever. I just see this thing eating into that market which already exists rather than creating its own.
Most people who want to eat meat are just going to eat meat.
That is not the majority of people who are buying these products. It's targeted at people who are 1) dieting or looking for healthier alternatives 2) people concerned with the fact that factory farming is unsustainable 3) people who have ethical issues with factory farming. Vegetarians that want to know what meat is like is a fraction of the market compared to what I listed.
Actually I've heard the opposite, the Canadian A&W chain has had them for a while now, and they were so popular when they came out that they actually initially sold out of all of their stock for like a couple months due to unanticipated demand. They have since added a breakfast sandwich and Beyond are starting to offer products at grocery stores. There is definitely a market for their products that is under served.
this.
its's just saturated fat with added protein and flavouring
but that's what a burger is
>but the Americans that eat at Burger King don't want to pay more for a onions burger.
So about 300 million of them then
