It could've been a useful role, being the first point of contact for community members that wanted to help out. But since they wanted it to be "decentralized", I was never allowed to onboard people in any official capacity by giving them space on the website or whatever. For example, someone that wanted to host a forum for us. I wasn't allowed to give him any subdomains. Too much "centralization". Team's too focused on buzzwords imo. It really hurts a project to tell community members that want to contribute to basically fuck off and to figure shit out on their own.
It was useful in picking out community members that are now on board in a more official capacity, I guess, though I feel their possible growth is stunted.
