pulling it out is the worst thing you can do, it's just temporary relief that make the problem worse when it grows back. the real way to treat it is to lift up the nail and put something under it so it doesn't grow into your skin. When you cut your toenails, they should be squared instead of rounded at the edges. Eventually it will grow out normally again
