Do any of you guys have good careers?

Or are you all NEETs and minimum wagies betting on shitcoins?

Do you wish you had a better job? What do you wish it would be? Also, what do you plan on doing once you make it?

im a shmuck trying to get into C.S, not sure if its a good idea but I worked the trades and I don't think 80 hour weeks breaking my ass would benefit me in the long long run.

I am a project manager for a general contractor. We contract with the City and local water utility / river authorities to build waterworks improvement projects like water/wastewater treatment plants, storm water pump stations, lock and dam, etc. I make six figures. Construction is comfy as fuck as top dog on big projects like these.

I teach Esl in Abroad. It is easy work people are nice to me and the food is delicious.
In my spare time I learn new skills and work out. Pretty good desu.

CS is a bubble

I'm a mouth breathing salesman that bets on shitcoins looking for a way out that doesn't involve a helium bag

I'm a Sales Engineer for a Fortune 200 company.

careers are a meme
with the increase in salary comes an increase in time and debt required

i'm 22 with a successful e-commerce business (have been featured on a few magazines, making decent money). i've put pretty much all of the money i've made in the past 3 years into crypto.

>Firefighter and Paramedic who works on the ambulance most days, do overtime shifts as an engineer and drive a ladder or engine.

Going back to school to get more certs. Want to do international transport and specialized transport on aircraft. Also teach at a university on the side for investing money.

Life is good but I dont have work/life balance down. I go 6 months of working every day and traveling around the country and world for classes and to teach and burn out and take 2 months off to recover.

I need to work on that. This isnt a career field that is kind to your body and mind. I'm 12 years in and want out by year 20 at the latest. Although money and bennies are actually great.

Actually I'm wrong, I thought it broke 200 this year on the new list that just came out. Fortune 250 then.

Not really, when I worked 40 hours a week delivering pizza I was busy 80% of the time. Now I really only do work for about 8 hours collectively on a given week, I spend the rest of the time reading and shitposting.

Bubble isn't popping soon enough for it to matter for that guy.

I make enough to live on and have a glimmer of hope, but I'm "low skilled" and will have to get some shitfuck degree at some point to keep up with inflation and shareholder demand.

your body gets absolutely fucked after about 4 years of that. I did expoxy/polyurithane and my knees are ruined for life

time and debt required to get the degree/certs which is going backwards vs going forwards

Do you have your pmp? I'm a PM as well and I have my gig. Wondering if I just hate the tech sector or PM as a whole

I'm in the military
Shit is NOT cash

yes they are you have to apply to hundreds of jobs as a new grad if you dont go to a top tier school and im assuming that this user goes to a mid-tier school or a coding bootcamp. if you are self-taught then forget about it

in my market there is rarely a job that doesn't require 10+ years of experience for a technology that has been out for 5 years

out of the ones left there are hundreds of new grads applying

then you have all the linkedin connected fags and social butterflies who run life on ez mode

I do CI/CD DevOps for IBM.

Software dev. Solid money and comfy as fuck. I get a little bored with it though so I have side endeavors like landlording that accelerate my cash flow.

I know a nigger who got a supposed developer job at ADP i think(?) by showing them some random derivative browser game he made.

Six figure tech startup user here. Have been through phases of appreciation or lack thereof for my job. Currently very happy, designing a new product. Have reasonable equity and hoping this new product gets the company valuation above $100MM. Still hope I make a few mil from crypto so I have additional options.

That's not that much time though, any non-brainlet should be able to finish a degree at a solid state school in 2-3 years and only pay at max 30k.

The discrepancy in how much you can make without a degree vs with a degree is staggering, I made 120k at my first job out of school vs 40k which was the most I ever made at my highest paying job before getting a degree. Also you can work while attending school.

Anyone who needs to apply to 100+ jobs isn't going about finding and applying to said jobs in an intelligent way. I work with some pure autismos too, even they know you need to reach out to people on LinkedIn for referrals

Connections on LinkedIn are meaningless, you can contact people whether you're friends or not.

>Now I really only do work for about 8 hours collectively on a given week, I spend the rest of the time reading and shitposting.
You work a 'bullshit job'. Look it up.

I have a company for Cloud consulting and DevOps

How did you get into that position and what area are you located in?

I'm a dirty nocoiner NEET. I have missed the boat on everything in live and I'm going to kill myself eventually. just here for the memes fren

Attached: frens.jpg (640x640, 44K)

I work a mediocre job and am all in on LINK. Everything I've done in life has blown up in my face or I have failed in. I get back up again but it doesn't get easier, LINK will likely just wind up yet another failure like everything else but I'm still not selling.

I even have oldfags dunking on me for getting in late, whatever. fuck it

Bubble isn't popping? San Fran is having massive layoffs, and all these "tech" companies that burn 2 billion usd/year are IPOing. This is peak bubble right here; majoring in CS is going to get your rekt if you're not in the top 10% of coders. Look at every other developed country in the world; being a programmer in those countries is just another wagie job that pays the same as any other type of analyst. There is no reason for the US to be different.

as i understand it you aren't NEETing right if you don't have shekels left over to put into moonshots. maybe try getting a job and see if having even the slightest bit of purpose or responsibility improves your state of mind.

You just need to diversify nigga. Might as well stick with this play though

Not really, when I am needed the amount that I contribute to my companies ACV is massive. Other people with my title in the same company can actually work well over 40 hours, I'm just lucky because I have specialized knowledge of a very particular product that only comes up on a few deals a year but the amount the license cost is so high that it justifies having sales engineers that are specifically versed in just this one product.

Once again, the bubble isn't popping soon enough for it to matter for this guy. I never said the bubble isn't popping. People said there was a CS bubble 5 years ago and guess what? The kids who graduated with CS degrees 5 years ago and got jobs are millionaires.

I’m a cop in a large metro area of the country. Job is ok. Good pay and greater benefits, fun and interesting most of the time. I’m in my late 20s with a 200k+ stack of Link so I’m just hoping it lets me retire early. If it doesn’t I’d probably only like to stick around for another 10-15 before going another path, maybe open up a business. Shit that Link stack is worth enough to already get me a jump on that but I like what I do while I’m young so I’m just riding it out. No wife or kids either (hopefully someday) so options are open for what happens if Link truly moons

Yea I just didn't really have that much money and only recently started researching LINK. Waited for the dip today and got a nice 8K stack I'm comfortable with, I'll be diversifying into BTC as I get my spare wagie bucks from here on out. The way I see it LINK has the highest probability for success if I hold on a long enough time frame so I'm going to consider my linkies non existent for now and maybe partake in the shitposting.

Live life a little too, work on a good career track (again).

Warehouse wagie. Hate life pretty much. Make 15 an hour. Yeah I'm one of the ones with a shitty job. I have no idea where my life is headed. 12k LINK is all I have going for me, and like another user said that will probably fail too like everything else in my life. The only saving grace is that it isn't fast food.

What degree would you recommend a zoomer NEET to pursue? I can pretty much do any subject and am willing to go /monk/ mode and only study, sleep, lift.

I was originally thinking about CS but after researching about it for the past month and reading the posts here I'm not sure what to choose. Math maybe? Economics? Does a math major and econ minor sound good? Join the Canadian Armed Forces and do a trade? Btw the Canadian Armed Forces trade thing probably wouldn't be preferable since it's pretty hard to get into the CAF and even harer to get into a specific trade. I'd most likely just be a grunt making peanuts.

I write software in the defense industry. It makes good money. I would rather have a farm though. I intend to have one in the future.

Sup government worker bro.

Hows your pension?

My state has one of if not the healthiest pension and we run it, state facilitates it. I'm optimistic itll be there when I collect at age 53.

If I get another 5 years in I'll be out at age 35 and collect $3000 a month (adjusted at retirement and adjusted every 2 years) at age 53. Should be nice "fuck you" cash.

Hey you're basically in my same boat except with a bigger LINK stack nice brofessor. I hope we make it, I work in a warehouse but I do repair work at only 16.5

datamining thread? datamining thread.

infosec guy in latin america. was poor af some months ago, life is OK now. well paid compared to a big % of the population, not so much compared to what I could be making in murica with my skills.

>career
I dropped out of uni because of shitty grades, depression and illness. barely even made it to 3rd semester... so I don't even have a degree.

I majored in Math, the people telling you not to do CS are completely off-base. 80% of jobs you can get with a Math degree are CS jobs anyway and economics has a huge computational component to it at many modern jobs.

Also people on this board are retardedly beholden to the idea that your major locks you into a specific type of job, I work with CS graduates where their first job out of college was as consultants, traders, and investment bankers.

Also know people who got CS degrees and completed enough of the requirements to apply for med school programs when they graduated.

The reason people on this board fail is because they're borderline(and sometimes just full on) autistic.

oh,and regarding your questions:
>Do you wish you had a better job?
>What do you wish it would be?
I wish I was professional pilot. that was my dream as a kid.though I do love my job, tbhfam

>Also, what do you plan on doing once you make it?
I hope I can help other people have better lifes. I want to start a company offering something that can improve the lives of people in general, but specially those of the poor and the working class.

Nice fren. Repairs sounds fun. I run one of the shipping departments. It's okay, better than the manufacturing side of things at least. I'm actually hoping for a raise this week so we'll see how that goes...

Almost in the same boat as you. But if I ever get some mad gainz I'm going back to school, I loved that shit, I wish I could finish.

Knee pads? Lose weight? I know a 60 year old tiler who is in great shape and has no health issues. He also wears the appropiate gear and does things properly and safely.

Sup fren. I’m quite the opposite. Without saying which one exactly, though you’ll probably figure it out, my state is in pure pension turmoil. One of the worst states in terms of liquidity amongst cities, counties, and the state itself. I started about 4 years ago and my entity went from level 1 to level 2 about 4-5 before I got on, which in turn means anyone hired at my work goes from a full pension at 30 years to working til you’re in your mid 60’s (regardless of time on the job) it’s absolutely kiked and probably the worst part of this job and one of the worst parts of this state. The boomers completely took advantage of the system and leveraged the fuck out of it and are making the younger gens pay through ridiculous pension changes and increased taxes everywhere. Hence why I’ll only be able to stomach this for another decade or so. I’m about 50/50 confident they’ll still have money for me if I go the distance, but I’m not giving them 40+ years for a chance at 80% of my pay. I pray daily for crypto to pull me out of potentially falling into the neverending spiral

Would you recommend CS over math? I heard they're quite similar only that math has a bit of an edge with the theoretic stuff. So far I'm thinking
>Math major + econ minor
>CS major + econ minor
>Just Econ major
>Just Math or CS major
or
>Econ major and CS minor

Which would you recommend for getting a high paying career?

We don't need you here depressing wages

CS alone or CS/Applied Math double major

So no need for the economics knowledge?

If you want math and economics, with no life studying go the actuarial route. Jobs are pretty comfy office gigs and the pay is really good; but you have to be good at studying.

Geranlly sort of professional field with licensing is good; i.e doctor, appraiser, actuary, lawyer, etc. Sales is good and will always be good, but you need to have a good personality for it (which, being a NEET, is highly unlikely)

Don't get me wrong, tech is great and will continue to be great, but you need to be top 10, or ideally top 1% to really make it. Unlike professional jobs that have licenses as a form of barrier to entry, there are zero such barriers in tech. That poses a problem when you're competing with the whole world.

Software engineer. Bored as fuck with my job. Being on call is shit - you have to wake up in the middle of the night the fix shit. If I can do this for 2 more years I'll be in a pretty good place financially but I feel like I'm wasting my life for no real reason.

I'm pretty good buddies with the shipping guys at our warehouse I am jelly though they get to browse the internet for half the day. I asked for a raise and they tried bullshitting me despite piling on the responsibilities and heading up new projects so I think I'll look elsewhere myself. Repairs are pretty fun at first but get old after a while, good luck my man

>Math major + econ minor - Ideal for Actuary
>CS major + econ minor - Ideal for a career in the growing blockchain space, load up on game theory courses
>Just Econ major - pure dogshit, enjoy working for 40k/year as a credit analyst for your entire life
>Just Math or CS major - never go pure math. Just don't. No no no no. Pure CS is much better.
or
>Econ major and CS minor - Ideal route for quants (have to go into a master program though)

Yeah actuarial science does seem alright. It's not as interesting as pure math but does seem pretty comfy. The hours aren't nearly as bad as bankers, accountants or software engineers

Don't quants need a phd in financial engineering? In that case wouldn't it be better to do math +econ during undergrad?

Elementary teacher. I have some shit coins, stocks and an investment property. Looking to pick up more real estate. Life’s okay.

Useless. That's surely an exaggeration. What I mean to say is most of the relevant financial theory can be self taught. The concepts laid out in a math degree are much difficult to grasp. Econ is a good run of the mill degree but not marketable to the extent math or CS is.

I'm a teacher in a mediocre secondary school. Ended up in this shitty position in life due to very low conscientiousness, and while I've improved, it's still quite bad — an assistant head is going to want to have a talk with me tomorrow because I pretty much never mark the pupils' books. I'd like to move on to a good school but I wonder if I can still use my current management as references given how shittily I've performed. If I can't move on I'd rather become a private tutor, I live with my parents and don't need much money at all.

Graduating medical school on Saturday. Link better stay low until my first paycheck in July.

same. I loved uni, but I wish I had someone warn guide me at uni, and also wish I had been more mature at the time. I come from a poor family, no one ever had stepped into a university. I didn't know what to expect, and it was hard for me...even though I loved abstract math and shit.

>We don't need you here depressing wages
don't worry, I wouldn't touch US soil anyway.

My job is easy, doesn't requires me to talk or even see anybody and I only go in when there is work to be done, otherwise I sit at home. Decent salary for my area.

I looked in acturial sciences. The impression I got reading forums and reddit was that most jobs are concentrated in cities and that it is oversaturated.

Barrier don't matter much when your country (like mine and many others) have a skilled migration scheme which Industry uses when the wages they have to pay get too high.

I have a PhD in Math and a starting salary of over $300k. This is my first year working too btw.

public or private? how long? and are you serving out kikepills?

Econ is a safe career diversity hedge. You can work in a lot of different industries and hop around if you start to get bored, it doesn't pigeon hole you into pure data work in the same way math does.

Yes, quant work is heavy on CS, Math, and Econ. But you can get away with a masters so long as you get into an ivy.

Literally kneepads

Oh I forgot to say what I was gonna do if I make it. I'm unironically going to work for the rest of my life still. The difference being that I'll be able to take my time and study whatever the fuck I feel like and quit at a moment's notice. Also the ability to work any job I want without worrying about not having money to pay bills or do fun shit.

how much link do you hold

Enjoy dying for Israel.

t. Ex air force

warehouse job making 18.35 an hour

pretty easy and some fat pay for what i do, but most warehouses dont pay as much as mine. they are usually anywhere from 13 to 16 an hour

not the most glamorous pay in the world, but its pretty damn good for the midwest

You guys gotta hit 30? We are vested at 5 years (you get something) its 2% of highest pay for every year of service.

based spic. assuming you aren't from Venezuela, am i hot or cold when i say Costa Rica?

Entry level is saturated, just like every other industry. There's simply too many people graduating and not enough jobs in ANY industry. Same thing for any major, in any industry. If you look on computer science job boards, you'll find the same issue.

The exams act as a filter though; by the time you get credentialed your pool of competition has narrowed significantly and you have plenty of opportunity to succeed.

in addition, if i make it im probably just going to invest all my gains into passive income and continue to work and reinvest that income into more shit

you should always work so that you contribute to society and remember where you came from

Public. I don’t go out of my way to be a total fag libtard with the kids like the rest of the staff. There’s some subtle red pills I throw in naturally. I doubt it has any impact on elementary kids, they can’t even walk and chew gum at the same time.

Kek

About 8 million LINK... been holding since the ICO......

Same here dude. I'm going /autodidact/ mode. I believe we are in a very wonderful information age. There is a lot of possible work. See where things go.

>spic. assuming you aren't from Venezuela, am i hot or cold when i say Costa Rica?
you know latin america is rather big, and while most of us talk spanish, we don't even speak the same spanish, or give a shit about one each other, right?
also, kys gringo hijo de puta.

No. Experience is valued more than credentials on the contractor side of things. I do have a college degree though.

I’m from Maryland originally. Graduated from UMD in 2010 into Obama’s dogshit economy, and couldn’t get work for like nine months straight. Mom’s best friend’s boyfriend is project manager for medium sized contractor.

>be sad me
>Hey user! Have you graduated yet?
>yes
>I need help with a kind of white collar job
>W-what is it?
>Heavy municipal construction
>heartsinking.mp3
>be getting there
>can wear blue jeans
>can tell coworkers fuck you
>can smoke and go outside whenever
>get paid a shitton to literally do nothing but email, make phone calls and bullshit with people all day

wtf I love construction now!

>keep doing it for ten years because so fucking based
>end up all over but eventually working on $75M projects in Texas today
>pull down six figures now
>company now pays for my whole freaking life expenses beside rent and vehicle insurance

Comfy af.

Weird part is that there’s literally like no one in this industry at all. Water treatment is done by like literally 300 little companies for the whole world. It’s crazy.

It is, but I'm really just planning on doing it for the rest of my life. So I'm also trying to develop projects and get into a good program.

False, working in dead-end shit jobs is for faggots

I’m a live sound engineer in Nashville, TN. These tourists are getting pretty fucking annoying though to be honest senpai

That sounds pretty cool, I was thinking about working on a cruise ship for a while, maybe being a bartender in some small town for a year, shit like that. Makes me wish for immortality because I'm the kind of guy that wants to try everything but there isn't enough time to actually do it.

Sounds sweet man. Not my kind of gig though. I like making projects.

Thanks bro. Actuarial seems alot better because not as many basedboy "I fucking love science" redditor software """engineers""" who just want to work for nintendo

congrats if no larp. also are you working in academia with a PhD in Math or

Nashville is gay. Total homo yuppie city. Over priced real estate. Let the tourists have it.

There are no good careers, it was all a scam
by the boomers to fuck us over due to their narcissim.

t. unemployed engineer on unemployment waiting for mememoney to moon

Salaried logistics industrial engineering supervisor here. My value in the company is based on ROI activities.

My job is pretty sweet, and I have a ton of free time to make my job easier with VBA and macros; brain-dead stuff. Ironically, I was deep into crypto before I got this job, and the fundamentals of DLT helped me understand enjoy my role in a data reconciliatior function. I can work remotely, and srsly I could keep doing it even after I make it, as much of it mimics the production indices of proof of work mining- and my profitability is granted as a bonus every year. It's 2 hours of "real" work to me 5 days a week.

Do you make students sit at desks that you choose or do you let them sit where ever they want to?

>muh separate nations
>call me names for applauding your staying home and daring to give you some benefit of doubt
So you're a coping Mexican?

I hope you aren't ben kahn, because that dude was a huge faggot

Fug that sounds comfy, also rare as fuck apu

Attached: 1542678091231.png (846x592, 42K)

What degree, cert or training do you need? That sounds comfy fren.

I'm guessing he signed up to die for israel

Im a junior civil engineer that works exclusively on large dams like the kind that keep blowing up in brazil.

That's a comfy way to die for Israel desu
