If you can't pay cash for it, you can't afford it.
108k per year
Frivolous expenditures should be kept to less than 2% of income or less than 2% of net worth, which ever is smaller
are shoes frivolous
Get a well taken care of 2004 Subaru wrx you can get one for around 5k and they will have a lot more respect in the car community plus I think they look better
depends. Is it your only pair? Then no. Do you need them for a special use like work shoes or dress shoes? Then no. But your 4th pair of basketball shoes are frivolous
They cost $5k because they can't drive more than 100 miles without breaking down.
Wrxsti loser race reporting in. Engine blew up at 47000km. Replaced under warranty but still aids.
red id
thanks
I can put $13k in cash as a down payment.
What about $104k and some student loan debt?
My current car is fucked and I need something with AWD for the snow.
What model year? Did you buy new? What broke?
15, new, whole block, bearing shredded inside. Always did all maintenance no mods
This.
Every wrx faggot on craigslist:
>2nd or 3rd engine
>"but the body only has 100k miles"
>interior is a 6/10
>body is a 7/10
>rebuilt title
>10+ years old
>wants $10k+
>"I know what I have"
Fug. What else should I get? I need AWD because I'm moving to the midwest.
If you're really tied to the Subaru name for some reason, just make sure you stick with an EJ motor. That means if you're buying new, skip over the WRX and just get the STI. If you must go WRX over STI, get an 06 - 14 since they still used the EJ255 in those. So long as the head gasket work has been done, you're golden. Whatever is going on with the new engines in WRX fucking sucks. So many horror stories of stock ones blowing up under 60k miles.
post this thread again nigger im sure youll get the answer you want eventually
Might I suggest a used Infiniti Q50 AWD?
Why not just buy a used $8k car, and save the other $5k?
Because I got my last shitbox for $5k and it depreciated down to almost nothing while also needing tons of repairs.
Ring lands? I had an 2011 Sti for 7 years and 45k miles. Stage 1 tune my self (less agressive than Cobb) for 20k Miles. Use shell rotella oil, although I think they changed the formula and it sucks now
I traded that shit in and got a f80 m3. Couldn’t be happier.
fucking lmao
you do not need AWD in the midwest
I drive a rwd g35 coupe and it does surprisingly well in the winter. I keep high end snow tires on it of course. (Michigan)
I came from driving a rwd-only jeep, so I guess I got used to rwd in the winter.
My next car will be an Infiniti m56, and I may go awd with that one.
I'm partial to Infiniti/Nissan since I've had good luck with my g35, but any comparable jap awd car would be a good option. Subaru Legacy, Lexus IS/GS, etc...
Avoid American awd cars (SUVs are ok). I've heard some horror stories about chargers and Chrysler 300 awd models.
>Paying full price upfront
>Not getting cash back via credit incentives
>Fuck liquidity, I "own" this now
t. Boomer
Dealer here.
I've owned about every single car you can imagine including Subarus.
I built a 2005 STI up to 500 hp. It was fun car to drive for a while, but you start noticing them everywhere and the Subaru community is very gay/annoying. You will notice them parking next you and constantly asking what mods you have blah blah blah.
Mine didn't have any problems (probably because I rebuilt everything before it could break), but most of them do. I see them all the time and think about buying another one to flip, but they literally all have head gasket problems & it's a PITA job because it's a horizontally opposed engine & you have to basically do 2 head gaskets so 2x the work. They're all beat to shit too. The newer ones all have engine problems. Everyone I know that bought one hates them.
Instead, Spend $8-10K on a clean, used BMW 335XI.
Literally every component on that car is by far superior to subaru's. I get BMW parts for so cheap & my mechanic loves working on the straight-6 bmw's.
AWD is cool. I live in the south. Only getting AWD from now on. Great in rain and wet roads.
Right now is the WORST time to buy a car. Leases are the future and the big dealers are gonna push super cheap leases for the next few years to normalize it.
>correct about shit car brand, difficult to fix
>recommends even shittier car brand, even more difficult to fix
just put snow tires on a Camry. No reason to go AWD unless you live in Buffalo or rockies
CPO Prius is the true car of Jow Forums
kek. Have you ever driven with snow tires on dry roads?
bought a 2011 335xi in 2012 and have been driving it ever since. love the car. might get a m340 in a year or two
Nothing "wrong" with driving on snow tires without snow. They just wear out faster. The warmer, the worse it is.
My g35 ( ) has staggered tire sizes as OEM standard. Therefore, I cant rotate them without dismounting them as well. So I just run 2 sets. Snow tires November to April, summer tires the rest of the year.
I have noticed that winter tires have shitty rain/wet performance.
Surprising what you can get away with using snow tires though.
>t. fuck all-season tires hard
Get a used one. Even if its only a year ild by a customer who owns the title. Why? When you through a car dealer any cash deal over 10k has to be filed on the spot by the dealer manager and you declaring were you got the money from. And of course if you do youre gonna have to pay capital gain tax plus the state tax and licensing fee.
yeah. it's why I moved out of the upper midwest. still a much better option then buying a complicated drivetrain and all-season tires.
Same user here. Depending on your state on a used car you can declare to the dmv whatever price you want to tell them that you paid for it. They dont verify just take your word because the used market is not regulates. Say you declare you paid 15k for it you only pay tax on the 15k at dmv.
Kia>Subaru All Day Long
I cant pull my boat with any of the shitboxes in this thread
get mitsubishi lancer evo X :)
Lol at balding faggot manlets/immigrants thinking anyone cares about their tryhard cars
>owning a boat
retard boomer
Don't take this the wrong way...What size is your dick? Is it true?
6 inches
I just need something capable of pulling my boat and enclosed trailer
Don’t buy a wrx. Awd is a meme for anything under 400whp. Literally a shit box.
t. Ex wrx owner
So it is true
>I know what I have
kek
How are kias?
Not if you know how to drive and don’t launch the shit out of it. AWD trannies aren’t meant to take a beating. Sold my 2004 stage 2 wrx a year ago for $5800 and had $175k miles, original drivetrain. With that being said, it was a slow turd. Subaru’s suck.
I need a van or pick up for work. Any advice?
ridgeline
ford f150 f250 or f350
KING RANCH
The bed looks a bit small. I need to fit lots of shit in the bed
trust me no one will be impressed by your 27k car
KING RANCH is the only answer
I dont doubt they are good at what they do/what they are built to do. However, the reliability of used examples and the "community" of wrx owners puts people off. YMMV, but searching for used models is like talking to a child about their favorite toy.
Doesnt matter what's wrong with it or the history of the car-
>its a fucking wrx bro!
>gib top dollar!
Don't get a transit van whatever you do
It really depends on what your other expenditures are desu. I just bought a 2016 STI w/ 19k miles for 30k. Car payment is about $450 at around 6% interest and a 5k down payment. Should be sub $400 when I refinance at a credit union I talked to (will also delay payment for 3 months which is nice). Anyway I take home about $1850 every 2 weeks after taxes (about 70k salary), and that's before OT. Even without the OT and a pretty sizable mortgage I get by OK. That's a reference but as I said earlier it depends what other expenses you have.
Oh and for the record the car is awesome. I live in an area where winters are bad and it's a god send. And I don't even mind keeping it stock. Got a 6 year/120k mile warranty bumper 2 bumper. Always modded my cars before but this one is staying stock and tip top as to not fuck up the engine and keep the resale value. They hold very well and I'd like to trade in for the new gen motor when it comes out in a couple years
Yeah definitely, it beats me why people go crazy for them. They are terrible at higher altitudes if it’s not tuned for it. I live near sea level and would head up to the mountains and my turbo would stop working and it felt N/A. I kept mine stock besides bolt-ons and tune, still wasn’t happy. Barely made 225whp/215wtq. Ended up getting an e36 and have an s54 with the 6 speed ready to drop in. Hoping that will be the end of the habit.
I have a 2008 STI. I had to pay 10000 fucking dollars to fix the.engine when it went. I put forged pistons in it to prevent that from happening again. I'm $24000 into this car and should have just got a fucking VW TDI.
It's fun as fuck though.
>I had to pay 10000 fucking dollars to fix the.engine when it went.
Are you retarded?
Did you use cheap gas?
91 octane before, 94 octane on the new build.
I see you've been a good goy today. I will be very benevolent and improve your credit score, that way I can lend you my golds only at 30% APR, best rate in the market. I'm crazy for doing this.
It can’t pull drifts on the street though, what kind of fun do you speak of?
yes you do
>Manely forged pistons and connecting rods
>Machining cylinders
>Port and polish heads
>ARP head studs
>New turbo
>King race bearings
>Timing belt kit
>New clutch
>Accessport
>Cobb Intake
>Moroso oil pickup
>Killer b oil baffle
>Gasket set
>Tons of misc.
>LABOUR
Unless you have the time do learn to do it yourself and deal with the multiple issues that inevitably coming along, as my builder had, you can try to save $3000.
This is in Canadian dollar fyi
Did you dyno tune it?
No I believe my builder can set me up with his tuner once my break in is done, if not I have the stage 1 tune on my accessport.
You should get it tuned specifically for your mods ASAP, stage 1’cobb is very basic. You’re most likely either damaging your internals and/or not getting the most out of them. Dynotune will be night and day
If you hate money enough to want a shitbaru, just buy a 335 (xi).
They're not like other cars, you want one that's 110-120k miles and been beaten on. People make the mistake of buying the 2k miles/year boomer ones and anything and everything has to be replaced by 100k. Literally end up paying 3x what they're worth for the low mileage meme.
Yes accessport has everything look good, zero knock etc. He said he had his tuner look at the car and plug it in and everything looked good according to him but I still hope I can end up getting it dynotuned. I want to keep things conservative and reliable.
All this for a dyke mobile. Sad.
That’s good, I imagine with a tune and your mods you’ll be in the 300whp range
Checked. Thanks!
