Types of soured milk is consumed in Scandinavia as well, but kefir in particular isn't very popular.
Our fil is more regularly consumed similarly to yoghurt from a bowl with müsli than as a drink, but I've heard of people drinking it as well.
I'll have to give kefir a go.
