this is true for plenty of people. I have three friends between 22-26 making 6 figures, one is making close to 200k and living at home. Another close to 150k.

In engineering (specifically software), medicine, finance, real estate, and many others, entry level jobs can break 6 figures. I'm in software engineering, so I know many people in that boat.

If you look it up, median burger income is like 30k and median household income like 60k, but the United States as a whole is like 15% black and 20% Hispanic.

Why does that matter?

Because the Jow Forums demographic is heavily skewed towards college-educated (or equivalent intelligence) whites and Asians. And the median income for a bachelor's degree household is $90k, while median starting salaries for STEM graduates (or other useful majors) is $60-$65k.

Add in above average intelligence in college, not living in a low-cost rural dump, and a couple years of raises, and, yeah, plenty of people will have six figures to brag about.

27 and make 6 figures. Could have been doing it a few years earlier but decided to take a different route in my career to gain experience and have certain opportunities. Looks super good on my resume and was the reason I was able to get a 6 figure gig after a 5 minute interview in the first place.

Money isn't everything though, quality of life was the biggest reason I made the jump. More days off, 2 hour call out to get to work (I live 12 minutes away), travel to better places when I'm on the road, better 401k, etc etc.

My job offers 3 different health insurance plans along with an HSA/ similar. They also offer pet insurance and tons of other shit.

Depends, the lowest plan has high deductibles but a lot of coverage , the middle one is pretty average and the last one has super low deductibles but is mainly for people who need constant medication/ Dr visits. I go with the middle one. Costs me less than 200/month and covers dental + vision as well.

It's all bullshit. They all come from wealthy or upper-middle class families and had connections that got them in the door. It doesn't matter what you go to school for these days. Job security isn't guaranteed anymore. It's even started to affect fields like engineering, etc. Only careers where you can actually get paid a lot out of college where you don't need connections are pharmacy and healthcare. Everyone else is fucked. I hear some of these Gen-Z college kids saying how they're gonna have these amazing jobs when they finish school. I can't help but laugh at their delusion. Non-larping, as a 23 year old making 50k a year fresh out of college (2015) I was doing extremely well in OKC. I was lucky enough to stumble my way into a fair job until my manager retired and the department was closed (2 years ago). Been struggling since as if you do not have connections you will not get an interview unless you are overqualified enough to outshine the ATS.

I hardly ever tell anyone what I make IRL mainly because jealousy is the #1 killer among black folks. Only person I really talk actual figures with are my parents/ brother, the 1-2 people I consider family, and my girls step dad because even though I make 6 figures he makes almost 3x what I make (he's about 6 months out from retirement).

Otherwise I keep it quiet and keep on being frugal/ cheap.
