I’m a new investor, but even a rank amateur can see this. All coins are tied to BTC. People here call BTC “Boomer coin” and all that. And calling me a retard for not buying this altcoin (which collapses 95% of the time).

Yeah completely agree. I rank coins based on what new unseen technology they bring. No alt coin has even come close to the scale of all the things bitcoin brought. What did Ethereum bring crypto kitties? Until we see some really useful stuff launch which I'm doubtful ethereum will remain a shitcoin.

BTC will go away eventually. It's way way too resource intense for our current time and sentiment will be its downfall once there's a legit and proven alternative (likely ETH).

1) ETH is a superset of BTC; anything you can do on BTC you can do with ETH (except faster and cheaper already). There are certain downsides like state size, but there are ways to address this down the line.

2) BTCs scaling pipeline is absolutely laughable; most people cite LN as the solution, but they fail to realize LN is useless without a solid layer one (not to mention that it seems to be complete vaporware)
3) ETH 2.0 will drastically increase throughput, potentially meaning that unless BTC hauls ass (they won't) ETH will have thousands of times higher throughput while also being faster and cheaper. ETH 2.0 will also mean that side chains can start emerging that utilize Ethereum for security - these can reach visa-like transaction speeds

There's no direct connection, because almost no one is using crypto as a currency, they use it mostly for speculation.
Technical advantages are important in the very long term.
At the moment we should try to understand what are the variables directly influencing the investors.
