Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. The main reason why I chose to go to college instead of a specialized school for programming is because I want to at least be able to use the degree to land a job in another field.

I was a cheme premed in college and got in a few MD schools as well as 6 fig o&g gigs. i went with later because i was sick of school, but i always thought i made a mistake.

If you factor in all the hours you have to work, you make like $70k/yr

my doctor doesnt do jack. he comes in 2 days a week for like 5 hours max to read some reports and makes like 400k. i get that during residency they pay isnt ideal and many doctors go in debt for school, but if youre smart you should be financially stable withing 5 years of MD and then making bank

Slaving for 20 years until you can afford to open your own practice. Docs make big bucks in their late 40s and 50s, but most have already offset this by extreme amounts of debt. Doctors generally feel that they have to maintain a social image. If you think the amount of keeping up with the Joneses is bad at a fortune 500 company, wait until you see the bullshit fuck fuck games Dr.s are forced to play.

MD is based as long as your not a dermatologist or orthopod or some other mem specialty. you're literally changing the lives of the people you see everyday in the most tangible and important way, even if it doesn't feel that way all the time. it has it's issues but it's still about a million times better than being some cuck lawyer or undervalued engineer.

maybe it's different in your country. i'm in USA. here, ortho's are the low iq brainlets of the surgical specialties. they don't know fucking anything about medicine lmao. they can't even manage diabetes or pneumonia and will have to consult out to the medicine service for basically every patient.
they're not the best surgeons either. i guess they're good at resetting bones and shit, but for any procedure that can be done by a different specialty like vascular or trauma, the other docs seem to do it much better.
that being said, ortho docs make like a gazillion dollars here, so maybe they're the only smart ones among us.

i used to think that was true but i don't anymore.
when we work with them they genuinely don't know anything outside of the bones and i have to dumb myself down to communicate with them.
shit i'm not a medicine guru, but when we're consulted, i'm at least knowledgable about medicine and can communicate with the gp/im doc.

lol nah. i do urology. i just grew up poor/middle class so i don't really gaf about the money. i'm sappy and sentimental so i genuinely care about people and want to help them and do shit for free when people need it and i'm financially able to. want to further specialize in oncology eventually. anesthesia is pretty based. especially regional blocks for post op pain. that shit is the future.

Did an internship and was put into qa, many cs students are put there because you can help the company fast by testing. I found automation fun and saw that many companies needed more automated qa, so I took a full time position. I also do devops stuff sometimes.

If done right it works, but there have to be lines drawn somewhere. Illnesses which dont affect yiur activities of daily living or aren't causing you debilitating pain are pushed way down in priority. Public dermatology is a nightmare, and most run off to the private hospitals.

Also you get it clogged with people with no regard for their health, or hypochondriacs, etc.

A good balanced two tier system is nice IMO. Plus in single payer the staff are essentially civil servants, so youll always be battling for extra hours worked etc ad the stupid admin and "efficiency" consultants fight tooth and nail to keep overheads i.e staff low. Cant talk properly about it as on phone.

America needs to sort out its primary care first. It had some great advancements in cardio/ rad/ onc with cutting edge tech, but its hole in the bucket is front of line primary care. People don't go doc because too expensive etc and eventually disease workers required exponential more services and treatment i.e money.
