the thing is, with development taking this long + the test net being available the whole time, doesn't it make sense for some companies to have contracts/jobs ready to go? i doubt they would wait until main net to start writing the code/stocking up on link.

sure, there may be a ton of companies ready to go with external adapters

but those are the providers of data, who are the consumers? who is going to be calling a chainlinked contract in _their_ smart contracts?

one pool of users are other crypto companies, or tech companies starting to branch into crypto

the other is institutional platforms, which will use chainlink internally, while abstracting it away from customers - I highly doubt those platforms are ready to go

i meant both sides. chainlink may be obscure to retail investors but to those that look to use the network, they've had a lot of time and a lot of resources to prepare for main net. i think wanchain even demoed a dapp that uses link. initial traffic may be low but i doubt it will be nonexistent or low for long

Why would there be a separate wallet for an ethereum token? That would rise more concerns than the current situation. MEW+Ledger is perfectly fine. Chainlink isn't meant for you, it's meant for institutional users. GUI wallets are mostly for scamcoins.

3) It's one of the few projects in crypto with a legitimate use and if it's adopted with the current plan each individual token will be worth more than 10X it's current value easily That's a small sample of the project's scope.
