Recently graduated and started a new job as a biz analyst for a large financial firm. Still going to be living at home and on track to clear 100k if bonuses come in favorably around Christmas.
I've been driving a beatup shitbox since high school, '99 Camry with 150k miles on it. But it's time to upgrade.
I have my eye on this 2019 BMW X4 M40i. The dealer near me has a great lease special
- $3,000 down - $649/mo for 36 months
Thoughts? Hopefully I can up my dating game with this too, still single but ideally I find a girl and we can move in together.
I drive a new MB but I’m 30 and have a boomer home, savings etc
Why do you feel you need a car $400k people drive at 22?
Mason Fisher
Save your money until your money earns money.
Levi Hernandez
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH AMERICANS AND CARS
Nathaniel Nelson
This, did what you did OP with an Audi TT and now I am driving a Lexus v6. Just skip wasting the money and get something nice and reliable.
Carter Butler
$3K down and 650 / month? so spend $27K for nothing? get a used x5m for $15K or better keep the camry. 99 is the patrician's year anyways and it's barely broken in at 150k miles.
Jason Cook
Fuck it, go for it OP. It will be enjoyable to drive, you make enough money for MPG not to be a problem and driving old cars is only fun if you are an enthusiast.
keep living at home take that 100k and buy crypto. you don't need a new car when yours still functions. unless you're a retard you'll kick yourself for buying a brand new car at 22 instead of reinvesting for long term gains
Grayson Davis
Cars are literally like 50% of price in usa than in europe or asia, why not just go mid way, maybe x4 bmw not x4 m4 that would be super cheap and still comfortable ride and some "status boost" (for people who prefer status boost)
12k miles/year but my commute is only 10 miles each way. plenty of leftover room for cruising
Caleb Gonzalez
Buy a Tesla. >roasties like an environmentally conscious man >pays for itself in 3 years by renting it out as a self-driving taxi while you're at work >drives itself while she gives road head >unmatched acceleration has been shown to induce female orgasm while merging onto the freeway >by buying it you're helping fund the expansion of humanity into the solar system
Carter Torres
I've unironically also been considering the Model S - only annoying part would be charging it
Aaron Morgan
I make $150k a year and drive a used manual- trans Mustang. Inexpensive, fun, and reliable.
Brandon Williams
i drive a 2004 camry and i aint upgrading till i make it
Lincoln Wright
Yeah lmao, i drove a shitbox Camry, found a comfy job and drive another slightly used shitbox Camry. Fuck German trash, literally eats more money than an entitled white woman
Owen Morris
>100k >60k after taxes. have you figured out your finances desu?
Gabriel Thompson
Hope to buy this after next bullrun Porsche is the perfect automobile desu
Don't buy this unless you're a walking meme Invest your extra money into stuff that keeps/grows in value and if you want to spend it on yourself find a hobby
That extra 7k/10k after insurance and taxes a year is brutal to your long term goals when time grows money exponentially Would you rather work an extra 10 years and drive a "cool" car or have an extra 10 years to enjoy life
Levi Morales
Yeah I will have about 60k or so in discretionary funds after taxes and shit, like i said still living at home so no rent or food or utilities.
i do have 30k in student loans im on the hook for but im just gonna make the minimum payments on that shit
Benjamin Russell
Why the 4s get a turbo/s if you want awd
Michael Thompson
Unless you can deduct it as a business expense, then don't do it. But hey never take advice from Jow Forums.
Jayden Thompson
>Would you rather work an extra 10 years and drive a "cool" car or have an extra 10 years to enjoy life
Explain
Colton Williams
>patrician Be smart OP don't waste your money on a depreciating asset. Take that 3000 and buy yourself something more modern but used or better yet invest that 3000 into something
Jaxson Foster
BMW depreciates the fastest. Get a Toyota tundra or Tacoma.
Michael Sanchez
I heard Porche's reliability is on par with Lexus...can any anons confirm?
Connor Morgan
Turbo is is also nearly double the price of a c4s
Christian Allen
It's pretty much one of the most reliable sports car you can buy
David Foster
Porsche sounds based...unfortunately even the base model 911 is over 6 figures
Xavier Gonzalez
Fucking this. Even a RAV4.
Owen Campbell
>Not buying a used Toyota
never going to make it
Andrew Smith
Compoundinterest.jpg
If the market doubles every 7 years on average, the money you save at 22 is worth 16x what you save at 50 (four doublings)
You’re a shitty analyst away from xl
Ryan Myers
649 per month for a car. The absolute state of americans. Holy fucking shit
Christopher Barnes
Why does Porsche do differently from Mercedes, BMW, Audi that makes Porsches so reliable? It's funny to see Porsche is reliable and German
Mason Smith
Porsche (behind only Maybach) is the fastest depreciating brand in the industry. However, the good news is a 5 year old Porsche has done most of its depreciation already and is still a reliable German car.
Ayden Gonzalez
Some of the older classic ones aren't even that expensive relatively speaking, but then factoring in maintenance and it's probably about the same Especially aircooled ones or w.e.
I honestly never understood the depreciation argument...I just don't see how it applies to cars. When I buy a car I don't treat it like an investment, but more like buying a tool for specific usage.
David Barnes
You probably do look like a dick driving a flashy car but..
Infiniti Q60. I currently drive an 06 g35 coupe and I'm looking at the q60 coupe. Possibly an m56 if I go 4 door, which is a bit older. You dont need to buy something that "everyone knows is expensive," just something that women would want to get into. I personally dont like the look of the fat-back BMWs like the gran turismo variants. X6M is badass but also $$$. I love the Alpina B6, which can be had (albeit a few years old) for insanely less than original sticker for an incredible car. Plus its unique.
Because they're way cheaper and drive arguably better. 911s are nice, but they're more of a GT than a sports car nowadays. They're pretty fat and focus more on luxury features.
Oliver Sanchez
How are Mercs in terms of reliability? Are they money pits like BMW?
Eli Martinez
Ah, 911 sounds like a better fit for me...I don't mind a gt
if you can't buy a car with cash you can't afford it
Carter Lewis
If you want a GT at that price, you might as well go with the godmachine Lexus LC500.
Daniel Baker
A car is the worst investment you can make. Unless you have a long ass drive to work and need to be comfy, skip a luxury car, buy a used Honda and pocket the extra coin. 401k, IRA and then Crypto investments first, car absolutely last.
Jordan White
Honestly all newer German cars (2015 and above) are all extremely reliable. I have a 2016 m4 and have already tuned it with full bolt ons and I’ve had literally 0 issues since the day I bought it. Although it’s only been like 4 years, don’t know what’s gonna happen after 5 more lol
Carson Lewis
Idk what it is that they do differently compared to other German manufactures but Porsches cars are known to be extremely reliable mechanically speaking. The electronics can be quite shit tho but thats the same for all German cars
Brayden Young
The LC500 is nice, but paying almost 6 figures for what is a poshed up Toyota seems overkill, with that much money why not get a 911?
Lincoln Cooper
My car hasn't depreciated a single cent since I bought it, and I do a ton of highway driving.
It's fine to spend some money on a car as long as you have an actual reason for it. You've got to invest in your own happiness sometimes.
Aaron Peterson
Because the LC500 is better in every way except ">muh badge".
Brayden Reed
HE NEVER TALKS ABOUT HIS CAR SO IM NOT SURE, BUT I THINK ITS BEEN RELIABLE FOR HIM? I DO KNOW THAT THE TURBO SOUNDS SEXY WHEN HE PEELS OUT.
Connor Ortiz
Mercs are pretty awful too. If the german cars had a pretty good supply of parts and aren't always figuring out how to scam the customers by redesigning the entire car every 4 years then it wouldn't be bad to drive one even if its less reliable than the japanese counterparts.
>retarded friend with Merc goes to aftermarket parts store >Alternator: $400 >Starter: $270 >Plastic radiator: $350 >Sensors designed to make money for dealerships: $200 a piece >doesn't include the costs of trying to diagnose and to work on a car that is awfully designed for mechanical work >most altermarket parts don't even work that well for foreign cars to begin with >decides to get rid of the car for $2000
German cars are one thing in Yurop as they're everyday cars but in the US there are a money making scam for people who like status symbols.
Justin Scott
Do you have one?
Daniel Diaz
>glorified vw beetle
Josiah Cooper
HE IS/WAS POOR.
HE LIKELY HAD A C CLASS, AND LIKELY THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF THEM ALL, A KOMPRESSOR.
MERCS ARE FOR PEOPLE WITH MONEY. SHIT HAPPENS, OK IM GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY DONT PRICE THINGS OUT AND HAGGLE ON LABOR.
I DOUBY MY CO WORKER HAGGLES AT THE DEALERSHIP AND HIS CAR IS ONLY LIKE 40K RIGHT NOW.
ASAP YOU SAID YOUR FRIEND WENT TO AN AFTERMARKET PART STORE FOR HIS MERC I KNEW HE WAS A POOR POOR FAGGOT.
No, but I drive another car that completely BTFOs similar-year BMW/Merc cars for far less money.
Porsches are nice, but you're paying a lot for a badge. And remember that LC500s work out a lot cheaper than 911s once you consider the fact that Porsche will barely even give you a steering wheel without paying for "optional" (mandatory) extras.
Luis Foster
Id suck him dry for a ride around the block
Christopher Green
I drive a 99 camry 4cyl. why the fuck would you want to get rid of this beast it will outlive you stop trying to give money to the car jew spend that money making it nice and restoring it
Landon Murphy
trips confirmed. based response
Julian Nelson
I'm surprised the LC500s don't sell that well...the thing is designed beautifully and has a NA V8 to boot.
Jordan Brown
> 2017 Dodge Caravan AVP > Purchased w/ 1k miles, $19k cash > Mechanical doors that can't break > 15 years of interchangeable parts to purchase for repairs > Hauls my 4 white kids and white wife around town This is the dividend investor of cars. The smart reliable choice.
Aside from job income I get 18k a year in passive income, so 168k. My total expenses are low (spent 62k last year), so I'll have about 100k to spend on whatever.
What should I get? I was looking at either a Jaguar f-type or the new mustang GT500
The point is why would anyone want to waste their money for cars like that, rich or poor? Literally giving money away to Hermann Noseberg so that everyone knows you have a Merc. What level of luxury can you get out of that brand that isn't a massive gimmick meant to scheme away your hard earned NEETbux.
Michael Lopez
Unironically my next vehicle. Have 4 beautiful white children and a gorgeous white wife.
Parker Jenkins
I think it's literally just because at that price point, most normies don't even consider Lexus as an option. Couple that with the fact that they're not very heavily marketed, and you get an uncommon car. Same deal with why I see a Cayman every other day, but have literally never seen an Alpine.
Camden Brown
safety yes, but modern tech in cars is way overrated. why not using something reliable and extraordinary?
>Hopefully I can up my dating game with this too, still single but ideally I find a girl and we can move in together. BUYING A NICE CAR WILL NET YOU ZERO GIRLS. GO WASTE YOUR MONEY THOUGH
Jack Hughes
Buy a used Chev SS.
Leo Morris
SAY THE SAME THING ABOUT CLOTHES
HOW IS THAT SHIRT $175? IS IT MADE WITH GHOLD? HEHEHE
THATS THE TYPICAL POOR FAGGOT MINDSET. WHILE WEARING A $2 HANES WHITE TEESHIRT.
SAME WITH FOOD, JEWELRY, ETC.
YOU HAVE $ YOU GONNA BUY, YOU DONT HAVE $ YOU GONNA LOAN, PRICE THINGS OUT, OR SAVE.
SAME WITH YOUR BUDDY AND HIS 2001 KOMPRESSOR
Christopher Thompson
I want a TRD 4runner. Toyotas are based
Dylan Johnson
Why? I have a 2017 Mustang GT Premium
I want a car that's as fast or faster but looks more adult. If it gives the ability to select the exhaust note that would be even better.
Owen Collins
So you already drive a nice, near-new car. Why the hell would you want to replace it already?
Nolan Brown
>what is wear and tear? >not knowing normies need the newest model to keep up with the joneses
William Lewis
Because I want a fancier car.
When I arrive somewhere I want to look like a professional instead of a guy with a toy car.
