>I dropped out our couldn't get into college, therefore it's a scam despite the huge amount of evidence suggesting otherwise
Anyone else utterly fed up of this meme on the 4channel business and finance board?

>Only earning $3,6M over your entire life. Might as well kys.
yeah I just realised how fucking depressing this is. better off getting into a trade and only working 6-8hrs a day max for around half the pay. even then though fuck wagecucking why do we do this
Two points I'd make. One is that those charts assume the earning power is directly linked to the education, whereas there's a strong chance that 'smarter' people (who, on average, tend to be more educated) would earn more money anyway.
The other issue is that if you are really bad at building social networks and meeting new people, education is one of the few ways to (partially) overcome that. You're still going to get screwed and overlooked for jobs by people hiring Social Sue and Gregarious Greg but you might at least get something other than minimum wage.
correlation =/= causation
people who could afford higher levels of education are mostly likely better off financially and socially from the start, i.e. they already have an advantage.
Cope
Some college basically means "come from good family and dropped out" and it's miles below bachelor's or master's
>taking into account historical data
just because it was a good idea 10 years ago doesn't mean it's the same today. that's basically the whole point of the anti-college argument.
Based and redpilled
The difference has been getting larger historically and there is absolutely zero reason to expect the trend to have stopped. The "anti-college argument" isn't an argument, it's literally just drop out and constantly lie/make things up and never post any evidence.
i dunno, all these people with 90k student debts and then just a few lucky ones get above average salary today. probably fewer when automation really kicks in. makes you wonder about the education system in USA. schools have always been sources of knowledge but today its so easy to just look stuff up online. unless you want to be a Quantum Physicist or something starting to work 4 years earlier and not get 90k debt might be the better option.
