Grind 2/5 and get ingrained into your local poker scene
Work HARD on your social skills
The money you make is the difference between the bad players and you multiplied by your stakes
A mediocre player in a high stakes private game with total fish makes orders of magnitude more than the best 2/5 live grinder
Once you know you can beat 95% of players and you know where the best game is in your city any night of the week you've made it. Plus there are perks to knowing the local bookies, drug dealers, strip club owners and rich bored businessmen. If you actually do it right it's the best job a young single guy can have.
The final irony is that once you get to that point you have the intelligence, discipline and connections to get way more money in the business world. Most of the really top rate guys travel that path.
