I've been thinking a lot lately about how utterly absurd it is that low-middle class workers buy new cars for 30-50k. That's literally HALF A YEAR of wages for many of them, and they spend it on a fucking car that has literally no advantages over a 10 year old reliable 5k car other than being shiny new and having newer bluetooth cell siri connectivity bullshit that people never even use. Half of an entire fucking year. For a new toyota corolla or volkswagon. It's beyond my comprehension. In some cases, people will even end up paying like 70k or more for a new car because they are still underwater on previous cars and/or were only approved for a tier iv loan and are paying 25% apr. These people are dedicating multiple years of their lives to a car rofl.
