>graduate in chemical engineering summa cum laude
>2 internships
>2 years of academic research
>apply 50 jobs a day
>get rejected from technician and operator jobs that only require GED
>22 and getting older every second
>Boomers keep changing jobs for fun then switching every 2 weeks to increase their salaries by 10k and wont FUCKING RETIRE
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
College is the worst investment ever unless youre compsci
Even compsci is kinda cringe unless youre at a top 20 school or need the degree for other reasons (I needed mine for a visa to work in the states)
>22
>only applied to 50 jobs
Keep at it snowflake
IVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST 10 MONTHS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH JUST GIVE ME A WAGIE JOB AND PUT ME IN THE CAGIE
FUCK OFF PAJEET WE HAVE NO JOBS HERE
GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY
I'm Canadian lol.
I don't know where you're at but chemical engineering is pretty lucrative in Alberta and North Dakota, at least when times are good and WTI crude is > $60 USD. You might wanna consider moving.
I literally apply all over the country. I dont think i can apply in leafland because no citizenship
Its lucrative but there are no openings anywhere. Literally every entry level position has 500 applications of other entry levels competing against experienced 30 year old boomers who keep changing their jobs every 2 months to get 10k pay raise. its fucking ridiculous!
get a job as a waiter in the mean time, so you develop some actual life skills (social, stress management, etc) it will help you a lot plus its fun to work with hot girls
Just be a woman and you'll get 700 offers all at top 500 companies doing jack shit
>I dont think i can apply in leafland because no citizenship
You can if you have a college degree in engineering and the job you get hired for is a professional occupation (like engineering, doctors, nurses, etc). Same reason I can work in the states despite being >a fucking leaf
It's called a TN visa, it's part of NAFTA (or now USMCA). Doesn't require employer sponsorship either, you just have to show up at the border with proof of your degree and proof of job offer.
you got it backwards
comp sci is one of the worst things you could do in college, you'll end up a software eng, and that can be learned for free online these days
>go to restaurant with help wanted sign
>"yeah just apply online"
>200 question behavioral test
>"please write a unique cover letter"
>"are you veteran"
>"are you latino"
>"are you female"
Getting a compsci degree is the biggest scam of all. The only major where you would learn faster at home rather than in college/uni
Anyways OP if youre still here, highly recommend applying to jobs in Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, etc. Oil and gas is looking up since conservatives are in power in the province again and the Trans-Mountain pipeline was just approved.
You can make serious money and save a lot out there as a capable ChemE especially when times are booming.
>graduate in chemical engineering summa cum laude
>2 internships
>2 years of academic research
you really don't have a problem bro.
OP the only way to get a job is to claim to be black or a woman on your application. Everyone is doing it
>t. Guy who claimed to be black and is currently getting paid 115k per year
i tell myself that to sleep every night too. but days are passing and i keep applying and 0 interviews. not even phone screens. ive literally applied to operator jobs that require no education and got rejected. almost every oil and gas job looking for 5 years experience. i actually interned at oil gas company. the make up is 90% boomers who wont fucking retire or DIE.
thanks ill look into it. the thing is most places ive been looking just want 5 years+ and i dont have that. If i worked as an operator making 20-30/hour instead of going to college i wouldve had the experience. Degrees are such a scam. i studied literally 2 hours before each exam and got summa cum laude.
im unironically gonna try this and if asked ill say it was a mistake.
>compsci
If only you knew how bad things really are
no if you are asked you have to dig in and claim you are black. They will not question you further. I learned from Elizabeth warren and I have used this trick to get jobs I could have never gotten otherwise
Literally everyone i know who did comspci/software has gotten full time offers since last august with 110k+ base salaries and 20k signing bonuses.
50 jobs in 10 months?
Dude, I applied to 20 jobs a day when I graduated. Got offers in less than 2 weeks. I prob sent out 400-500 applications, before I accepted my job.
ive been applying to like 50 jobs every 3 days for last 10 months. the job outlook for recent chemEs sucks ass. everyone who got job in my class got it through stupid nepotism
did you apply online or did you know a lot of people in your field? what is your field?
join the military you stupid fucking moron.
It's still a form of "social welfare" for people who "can't get hired", it's just that 50 years ago that meant people without the brainpower or motivation to get hired, but that was because boomers couldn't walk down the street without getting a job offer. Nowadays, you need that same help, but it's because you don't have the nepotist family connections, or haven't gotten exposure in a high class social outing to get a job.
Get you some work experience, free healthcare/dental/vision everything, get paid experience, possibly see other countries, build healthy habits and structure in your life. Esp if you're joining with a chemeng degree, you can cruise through it. and best of all... FREE TENDIES ONCE A YEAR AT APPLEBEES.
But did you have the prerequisite 5 years experience for the entry level position?
>phd in physics
>applied to 150+ jobs
>experience in python, c++, html and javascript
Considering to apply to kitchen related wagie jobs at this point. thoughts Jow Forums?
Did you apply at fucking Applebees? Never go corporate you schmuck
>die for israel
no thanks
why not just lecture. Physics TA/lpart time lecturer is hella comfy
>College is the worst investment ever
Only if you're gullible and get a "degree" in shit you should do yourself like art or-
>unless you're compsi
Nevermind ignore me. I was compsci
>tfw 4 year degree could be done in 4 weeks if college professors didnt have such big egos
Dawg obviously you're gonna get rejected from low level positions youre overqualified
make apps and design websites dude. we're on our own in this market
Meanwhile I have a bachelors in history and get every job I've ever interviewed for. Stay dumb chemfag.
Hahaha, I guess she makes a good leader after all
>compsci
you know you can learn coding online for free right?
where?
try google
only 50 jobs user?
Yes compsci is easier when you do it alone and online, but a degree is still needed also for a "social status". I know that people have been hired over others just because they had the European Computer Licence, a shitty document that basically says that you can turn on a computer.
I know this feel hard. Currently stuck working in a telecom industry doing grunt work for not even 40k. At least I can spin the experience, but it is making life pretty hard on me, especially if they don't give me a promotion like they say they would. Gonna start looking for a better job I think in September because either way im bored as shit
Mechanical engineer btw, just didn't have any internships
Just say you identify as latino and female
>underqualified for entry level
>overqualified for uneducated level
JUST GIVE ME MONEY AHHHH
>Mechanical engineer
You fucked up
>"do you have 5-7 years experience in the waiter industry"
FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK
I did. I really did. I wanted to do aerospace but i talked myself out of it. Although senior year i realized that EE is really what I'm most interested in, but too late now.
Might consider grad school in the future but i got other things to work out in my life anyways, so I'm just gonna do my best. At worst, i get hired into this company as an engineer (title really) and I'll at least be stable.
Why are boomers still allowed to live after having raped the job market this hard?
>23
>IT job that pays 1.5x the country average wage in my entry lvl position
>In a few years I should earn about 3x times the average wage, potential for 4x
>have no IT degree
kek, I love it here, a firm handshake and confidence can still take you places if you're not a brainlet
This. OP is larping
>tfw boomers forced social security on us and even after they retire with massive 401ks, they will continue stealing 25% of our paychecks in medicare and SS
Educating and learning is an amazing investment. The problem is my country values short term profit in terms of dollars over long term intellectual capability. The country is hamstringing it's future and ability to stay dominant, so those in charge can stay comfortable for just a little bit longer until it is no longer their problem to deal with. Stupidity has always been our greatest tool to control. Unfortunately, this tool is recognized and being exploited by others. If this country wants to stay competitive going into the future, education is going to need a complete overhaul and the respect it deserves or we will fall behind.
>Muscle means nothing without a brain to command it. If you brain is weaker than your opponents, your muscle will become their muscle.
>Get a JD straight out of college
>I'm not Jewish, so I can't use my Tribe card and/or nepotism to get into a firm like the majority of my classmates
What have I done? Even the non-law jobs I apply to/interview with just assume either (1)That something must be wrong with me if I'm not practicing as a lawyer, or (2)That I'm just going to rocket out of their "low" position into something more "suitable" for my education level before they can get their ROI on training me, even though none of the jobs they assume I'd ditch them for would ever actually give me the time of day.
Wait till they get in.
IT jobs are for literal street shitting brainlets though
Why do you guys want a job so bad? I'm avoiding getting one at all costs
Because my dad is a manwhore and i hate seeing my mom sad.
>so those in charge can stay comfortable for just a little bit longer until it is no longer their problem to deal with.
this is so true. When i interned, it was literally boomers and like 5 new hires and 4 interns.
So many "By the time i finish explaining it to you i will do it myself so nevermind. im really busy and need to sexually harass the new female interns and secretary"
Boomers literally need to die.
