Half of my company got laid off today at 5PM no notice.

>Random company wide calendar invite to only select people in the large conf room at 5pm
>People next to me didnt get invite
>Go up there and its dead silent
>CEO MIA and comes in 5 minutes later saying he has made the decision to let go non key personnel to meet revenue goal
>Entire engineering team, marketing, and half of client services laid off on the spot
>"Necessary" restructuring to move forward as a business
>People start crying and looking at the floor
>Return to my desk to see my entire section gone but my boss
>Tomorrow we meet to discuss distribution of accounts and next steps

I made the cut, but all promotions and bonuses are now frozen until Oct 2020.

Do I just say fuck you to this place? Seems like a last ditch effort to save revenue at this point

What do you do?

> Stuck in the same position until Oct 2020 with no bonus
I'd be applying elsewhere yesterday.

Look for another job. Then quit on the spot.

business development in advertising (account/sales)

Don't see how you can interpret that as a good sign. It's easier to find a job when you already have one. Start looking now. Either you get fired in the next round of layoffs, the company bankrupts, the company gets bought out and the new parent company fires everyone, or your company actually turn things around and you get rewarded for your loyalty. You didn't give much detail, but the rewarded for loyalty outcome is the rarest one.

How necessary do you think the cuts were? Has he got a direction to take the company?
Or is this brainlet management?

Idk why even work to begin with? Just trade shitcoins lol

Now is the moment to demand a serious raise: if your duties are going up, so should the money. If they refuse, recommend the biggest fuck up in the department to be kept instead

How old are you?

Pretty necessary but management has been driving this place to the ground. Sellers arent selling enough and you dont need staff if there not business coming in.

Either way its a morale killer, Im the middleman who manages accounts and does strategy. I guess I made the cut because I work hard and manage a good chunk of revenue, but Im also well aware that loyalty is shit and Im likely still here to mop up.

I'd wait and listen to the strategy going forward in the next few meetings imho
Going into interviews for other companies, it sounds a hell of a lot better to talk about how the companies direction changed and you couldn't see yourself fitting in, rather than saying you bailed because things got tough. My 2 cents

this, these wagecuck threads always bring a chuckle to my lips

Demand a raise and a bonus or you walk. You will get it. The company decided it can't function without you but didn't give you a pay raise that shows how much they actually give you.

You will be given an increased workload and expected to work for same amount. They will work you like a dog and expect you to take it. Don't.

> Engineering team gone
> Marketing team gone.
This ship has been mismanaged for years and the chickens are coming home to roost. Best start looking for a job RFN! It won't get better.

Sounds like a vaporware job running on buzzwords and a good attitude. Get a real job

life is vaporware. its just telling people what they want to hear and buy.

you should know buying cryptocurrency

Unjustifiably in a position you'd rather not be in, but the cream rise to the top

Sounds like the company is dead in the water.

Start looking for new jobs.

I saw the writing in the wall at my last position and jumped ship. Sales were dropping off like crazy. Switched to a defense contractor. New sales have pretty much dried up here too, but we have 3+ years of work in the pipeline. Hope I'm not fucked.

>non-key personnel
>Engineers (who create products), marketing (who sells products) and customer services (who keeps clients around and engaged)
What the fuck?

wew lad if YOU survived the cut of useless positions I cant even imagine the rest...well actually can... HRroasties, office roasties, nepotist kids, browns and nigs

i have an engineering degree. Im just milking this scam because I dont like being around 60 year old gray haired boomers and advertising pays extremely well in NYC
