an exchange that holds large amounts of USD (i.e., someone who made a real profit) is essentially net short BTC. if they were selling BTC to buy USD to recoup, BTC would decline in price. the opposite is happening.
they have a profit denominated in tether. but they've always sort of had a profit denominated in tether.
