I Started a winery in the Adelaide hills, South Australia a few years ago called Travellers Rest Wines. Im wondering how I can start approaching investors. When I formed the company my business partner and I divided 460 shares equally. We are marketing nationally and gaining sales. Looking at distilling equipment as well. What do investors require when looking into businesses? What are usual terms? Has anyone ever invested in a company privately, not in stocks. Where can investors be approached? Are those go fund me things a crock of shit?

Wut

Talk to a lawyer nigga

very well designed bottle i'd buy off the label alone. good luck user, i have no idea about the wine business. get in contact with a lawyer

I’m from Cali and will definitely order some user, keep up the hustle

Hey fren, I've always wanted to start a winery. Can you describe how you went about it and the capital required? How hard is it? Would i have to be up at 6am every day massaging grape vines?

Hey fren. Nothing of value to add other than I lived in Hahndorf, Macclesfield and Stirling for many years. Absolutely beautiful part of the country (and unironically the hills are the best part of SA). Mushroom picking in the hills was my favourite winter past time, twas the perfect mind fog cleanser; porcini, slippery jacks, and of course the subaeruginosa are everywhere. Damn I'm getting nostalgic now. Will definitely move back once I make it.

Appreciate it
Cheers, the label is a very personal opinion some hate it some love it..

Good luck.

Based actual businessman. I wish you all the luck in the world. Definitely talk to a lawyer though.

Hey mate, I started with a tonne of cheap grapes with a friend and reading up on the internet. We started slowly and didn't get a loan. We bought equipment secondhand or broken and repaired things. Now we have a 50 tonne winery, about 20,000 bottles in stock and producing every year.

Love Tempranillo my dude, any distribution on the west cost of burgerland?

Holy shit great story user. How many years did that take you? Well done.

How many acres are we talking for business level sales?

Holy shit we are in Houghton near Inglewood and Paracombe. Small beautiful part of the world. Still haven't found the elusive porchini yet

Not yet we are only national currently. Very interested in the wine scene over there and china of course. Early days still but very keen to start international distribution.

We have 10 acres in Houghton with a winery shed, couple of offices, bathroom/shower and tasting room. We only process, store and bottle wine so we buy grapes in from farmers, they do the hard work

What is the label supposed to be showing? To me it looks like the man is bang a girl with ponytails that is on all 4's.

Ive got that response alot actually. Its a weary traveller/mystic apparition of the vines he is holding grape vines.

Cool man, would love to see you out here. Do you ship to the states?

Fucking kek
Good luck Aus bro, hope the chinks don't eat you.

Ok, I know how it is here but I didn't mean anything bad out of my comment. I had to find a better picture and I can now see the man is actually sitting.

This
It's beautiful in its own way.

Havn't yet but there is always a way to work it all out. Cheers

Sell to them, fellow ausfag. I know someone that supplies containers to the Chinese Market twice a year. That's her primary income. She only works casual because she said she's bored.

Amazing wine list. We have 2016's released 8 varieties 2 years in french oak, chard, shiraz, cab, merlot, pinot, grenache, temp, sanjo from 12 to 25 LUC. I have only been repping 4 months so im doing it myself currently been to sydney melb and canberra. Shipping is straight from us.

Sorry we are trying to keep things personal, small and independant atm. Dans is scary to us but check out the website if you feel like checking us out. cheers

Oh and Que bono? wine is the currency my friend

Very cool, I didn't know wineries did that. But makes sense!

any interest in exporting to china?

Sorry we made one but we sold out of it at a few gigs we did. should have another one coming up soon

Do you have a website and ship to the USA?

I would strongly recommend bringing in a CPA, preferably engaging a firm to move forward with this.

You will need a business plan, and most likely an audit. You will also have a CPA provide a value of your business. The firm or individual CPA can often assist with all this. Again, firm is best option.

You have three main options to raise capital as a private company.

Bring on additional investors. This will mean less control as they will likely want to have some level of involvement in business decisions. This can benefit you if they are savy, as they can help you grow. They may try to take your business a direction you do not want to go. I would advise being very sure that you and any private investors have a strong agreement of each other's goals. Also be wary of how many shares the investor wants, as you may lose more control than you wish.

You can approach a bank or private investor for a loan. This has the advantage of giving you access to capital without having to give up control. They may even be willing to give advisory services. This will help you maintain the direction you want to go, and get some level of expertise so you can grow the business more effectively. The downside here is that you will likely be required to have more financial oversight and annual audits to provide to your investor. You will likely have other loan covenants you must meet. If you do not they can pull the funding and you will have to pay it back. If you do not have cash,.this can bankrupt you. This will increase costs in this area significantly. You also may have to provide personal guarantees, so if you are unable to pay the money back either on demand or at the time of payment being due, you can be personally liable and your assets can be sought to pay the debt. This can lead to losing assets or even personal bankruptcy.

The third is to go public. This is the most expensive option, as there are significant hoops to jump through.
Get a CPA, they will help.

Yes very keen, heard good and bad reports from people in the industry. No idea how to get started though. All very new to this. I have a friend over there who speaks mandarin from highschool but he is having trouble hooking me up with someone.

Glad to help. A winery was the two month practical case I did when I was doing my CPA, so it was fun to be able to help.

>Adelaide hills, South Australia
I'll visit you.
Where are you located?
Probably an hour ride from me at most.

Heard there were a lot of chinese doing it here.

Hi there my email is [email protected]
We are at Houghton near Inglewood. I live at Largs Bay in Adelaide

Why not focus on reaching brokers & distributors and raise less in the short term? What would the company spend the money on specifically if you had it tomorrow?

Man this is a comfy thread. So nice to see biz bros acting like the secret nepotistic cabal I know that we can be.

Any of you lads know about growing mountain grapes? A friend is looking to start off in the Rockies.

We are looking to invest into infrastructure, a distillery for a brand of spirits and liquors and setting up sales avenues/distributors. Our driveway needs to be double laned and bitumised to council standards for trucks entering as well.

What are mountain grapes used for?

that council standard is so fucking stupid lol

You've got the marketing content down pat user, all you need now is
>muh exposure

Personally love the logo and the fact that it proves contentious is not a bad thing, ultimately drives interest for customers.

cheers, Heres them lined up at the farm against a slasher

Not sure. He said he was looking into growing a varietal that grows in higher than normal elevations and that they’re desirable because of the temperature swings at altitude. If it’s not something immediately forthcoming then I probably have to ask him some more about the project.

Took this on a burnt out log in the bush. Sorry for all the product shots

which one is you? spencer or marty?

Im spencer mate

nice trips. How do I acquire good taste of wine?

check out our website travellersrestwines.com.au

you made a wrong turn on the internet ......go to reddit, idiot....biz is for crypto

Colder weather makes for thicker skins causing the wine to be more full bodied and with more tannins.

Nice ive heard of ice wine having the same properties in the berry skin. Due to the freezing and thawing natural yeasts get into the berry and cause fermentation

Good luck man. From a fellow ausfag, label is good, does look like wojack is banging a broad, no bad thing.

cheers mang.

best state in australia represent! i'll buy some of your wine if i see it.

Legend, cheers cob

Hahahaha it does look like that

Don't put sulfates into your wine it cheapens the taste. Causes headaches as well.

>making wine in the shed for 10 years.

Attached: nbl5jrvkff621.png (800x680, 196K)

Fully agree with you sadly when we buy grapes we shit ourselves because of the monetary investment. Through this, we add 3g per hectolitre
where the recommendation is about 30g and its in barrel for 2 years so its dissipated by then. My grandfather doesn't use any sulphites and i get it but its hard on a commercial scale as the wine needs transport ect.

fuck you cannot unsee

you guys can sorta stealth meme it i suppose

Adam?

good luck trying to get a slice of china if you cant even proof the authenticity of your product

Not Adam, Spencer's the name
