>accidentally see friend's bank account history
>see $15 payment to blizzard
>"Oh, you play WoW?"
>Nah I stopped playing a week after BFA release
>Point out to him that I saw his history and he's paying money to blizzard
>turns out he's been paying $15 every month for the past 8 months and hasn't even noticed
is this a common thing for subscription services? how can you not notice your money disappearing?
Accidentally see friend's bank account history
99% of the population is retarded. This is exactly how gyms make money.
$15 is pocket change
literally me, it turned out I had been paying for SWTOR for like 3 years
its easy to miss when you have a net gain every month
i only noticed when i lost my job kek
I accidentally paid for like 3 months of WoW service without noticing. Opened a ticket and they froze the gametime for me because I hadn't logged in for months. Now when classic comes out I can just open another ticket and they'll give me the gametime I paid for.
adds up when subbed to 20 things
How do you accidentally see someone’s bank account and notice that?
this happened to me aswell with tinder premium, i thought i canceled it but there was a dumb backdoor
>accidentally pay the IRS 5k too much
>don't notice until I get a check for 5k the following year
Get on my level.
that's $1440 for some shit you don't even use
that would be anywhere from 8k to 700 linkies depending on when you bought
imagine giving away 80 million to 7 million dollars away because 'it's just $15'
This is why companies switched to subscription model
lmao
I didn't pay the IRS for four years (misfiled back in 2014, couldn't file 2015 until 2014 was corrected, couldn't file 2016 until 2015 was corrected, etc.) and they charged me minimal interest when I finally corrected it in 2019.
It was basically a low interest loan that was used on Bitcoin.
8 x 15 = 1440
this
OP you sound like a fucking poorfag. I literally wouldn't even notice if $100 was missing from my checking account, let alone $15
Maybe you should worry about getting money instead of what your friend pays to blizzard every month.
It is so common there are literally third party services that make sure you are not still paying for shit you never use.
wait fuck I thought it said 8 years
anyways let that be a lesson to you, 8 months could turn into 8 years in the blink of an eye and just like that you fuck yourself out of being a millionaire
i signed up to some $1 porn trial offer in a weak moment. these fuckers had me autobilled for a year before I caught on to them. the shame...
Wasn't it your money to begin with?
>payed the state tax that I owe.
>state tax department is disorganized as fuck and send me a refund for the full amount
get on my level.
wow, thats a big number.
I have netflix and hulu but I dont really use them. the second I cancel my sub there always something I wanna watch so I just stay subbed
I did a free credit report from experian one time, because I thought it was free. Then I noticed every month I kept getting billed $20, but it was under a random name so I didnt know it was them. I got a new credit card 3-4 times but the charges still kept showing up. Turns out they were billing me every month for my free credit report for 3 years. The money wasn't really what hurt me, it was just the principle of it all. How is that shit legal?
>gyms
thats the classic example, but literally anything you're not tied to a minimum period contract (cable/phones/insurance/etc) is better cancelled, then re-negotiated. Loyalty costs dear
who charge a convenient monthly fee ?
i did porn affiliate marketing years ago. we had two models, one time signup down payment (bigger) and one recurring. the recurring brought in plenty more times cash then the one time.
i had multiple referrals that signed up for a one year recurring, paying in advance like 120,- (70% of that being my cut) that got billed a year later AGAIN. i really assume a huge amount of people simply forget about these. if they have to manually renew they largely never do.
i should have stayed in that porn business, it made me more money than crypto to be honest.
that's how they can pay for ads with jingles that are still stuck in my head like 10 years after they were on tv
Those fuckers brainwashed us. When i first heard those jingles I was a kid and didn't know what it was. Then I had to get my own apartment and thought it was the only option. Turns out there's an actual free credit report you can get from a .gov site. Fuck. This shit is why I'm paranoid.
ayo, hol up
experian run a company called 'Freecreditreport.com' who charge you fucking $20 p.m. recurring, 'under a random name' (!) ? I'd honestly find a few victims (shouldn't be difficult) and sue the fuck out of those fucking kikes, that's literal and blatant deception
if you look up "freecreditreport scam" there's a lot of people like me. consumeraffairs.com
>I was falsely charged and did not know that they were going to charge me, because it was stated free credit report. I do not want to be charged or use membership. $44.95 is what I was charged last time for a free credit report which was not free after all. After a few days they charged me $44.95 for a membership that I did not need. I already am signed up with Lifelock and do not need them. I was led to believe it was a FREE CREDIT REPORT but it was NOT!!!
They've been operating like this for at least a decade so I doubt anything can be done. I'm sure I checked some random box in a hurry or didn't read some fine print, so they can easily hire some ratfuck lawyers to get my case thrown out.
>21 mil in a checking account
Larpers can't even fake being rich
wow. they are such nice guys
by "they" I am actually referring to my former self:
they don't really think about how they could be saving money such as that, like they'll struggle to get a savings account because they know they should be savings (and build it up, then find a reason to empty it out) but never actually realize that the monthly fees could be canceled and go towards savings.. they justify it in various ways like saying "oh that money is from x so it doesn't matter" or "well if I wasn't spending it on WoW I'd be spending it on y" I mean there's always some kind of weird fucking logic that goes on to justify it.. they just haven't realized the value of the dollar yet for whatever reason, see:
Wtf don't people screen their bank account debit/credit charges? Every week I check my accounts where the money went even though I usually know and remember where it went. Sometimes I still find something off and cancel the habit of spending unnecessary money on them. I guess poor people just have shit habits plain and simple.
To not be in such situation I use an excel sheet with all my gains and expenditures to keep track of everything.
>They've been operating like this for at least a decade so I doubt anything can be done
thats no attitude - certainly people tried:
courtlistener.com
- she (ev.) got fucked over by a Judge who sent it to arbitration, but, looking into this, must be more. It -is- deceptive practice (near blatant fucking fraud), they been fined for it (that'll worry them) - just a matter of time till someone wins a case against them
>2014
>friend and I were playing FF14 together for about 3 months
>told him to unsubscribe for every month so they don't automatically charge you
>"It's fine user, I paid 3 months in advance :^) "
>try to explain that it's always, by default, auto-renew, even after the 3 month period
>"No it won't, and I'm saving $3 by getting 3 months at a time!"
>2019, last month
>Been playing on and off for years just to keep up on the expansions and MSQ
>friend has only played those three months back in 2014
>talk to him about Recruit a Friend Campaign in anticipation of Shadowbringers
>he's all about it, tell him I'd help him catch up
>he goes on Mogstation, has 1500+ days of vet rewards
>ONLY PLAYED 90 DAYS OF THAT
Yeah.... he freaked out, and he denies that I told him. A fool is easily parted with their money.
