No , there are 144 blocks per day , the miners are the same , they simply need to add more hashrate to the mining pools to adjust to the new difficulty as a result the day after the difficulty adjust upwards(as it happened today) , the network becomes slow as instead of 6 blocks per minute you end up having 4 or 3.

As a result transactions are accumulating ,they will be cleared during the weekend and we will be growing again next week.

But since you also ask about the miners selling , the supply of bitcoins in the market has collapsed while the demand in usd remains the same.
