Those 50 startups are selling API data to 8 nodes. They are not running nodes themselves. Oracle is interested in their start ups to sell API data to node operators, they aren't funding nodes.

Write out the logic flow of a complex smart contract
Analyze how many interactions it has with the ethereum to write data or compute logic, and how many times it hits an oracle for inputs or outputs
When the full mainnet arrives, with deposit and penalty contracts, TEE's, threshold signatures, zkps, chainlink is an unstoppable beast, worth more than eth and btc combined, and then some
