One can artificially inflate IQ by increasing verbal IQ via learning and calculations. Ashkenazi Jews do that for example. They have a low average innate IQ, but through their culture they attain higher performance on verbal IQ by overstretching themselves.
So if I get a need to feel chosen or special, I'd just perform mental gymnastics and then project my feelings of strain and distress on others.
