Staff Sergeant here. If I bought link over a year ago, but have continued buying over the course of the year, how does the long term capital gains work?
For example, if I bought one year ago and held, but then today I bought more link, does it reset the holding length for the entire stack back to 1 day? Or can I sell the stack I held for over a year for long term, as long as I don't sell the new stuff?
I ask because I fear 1k EOY might be real and I'll get hit with a 37% tax rate because I just bought more link today. I have never sold, only bought and held.

So if I had 5000 link I've held over a year, and 100 more I just bought today, I could sell 5000 at 20% capital gains long term rate and then the 100 would sell for 37% short term rate? (I'd be hitting max rate if it was 1k per link)
