Then you will probably sweep rocks, vacuum rain and become an alcoholic while living in some seriously abhorrent living conditions. If you want to make the most out of an enlistment, join and learn a trade. Aircraft Mechanic, IT, intelligence. Get your GI bill and use it when you get out, or switch to the reserves and discover the magic of how based the reserves are.
I picked up a federal civilian career with just 2 years in the reserves. I make 27$ an hour to enter aircraft maintenance data and talk over the radio. I have full federal benefits. I get a COLA every year and a step increase every year for the first 4 years. Then after 2 years i will be able to move anywhere in the federal government i remotely qualify for. Simply because I've been in the club.

The thing I do support about militaries is that you can gain access to Vocational Education (as well as other skills), and the question always is well "why would you want an entirely separate education structure?" (as I outline here: warosu.org/biz/thread/S14318279#p14321182).
It's just that I can't support approaches by Western nations toward the middle east. I realize Iran is not some innocent puppy too, and I'm not some ethno state supporter. I just don't see the point of war these days, unless it is in response to a non-false flag attack.
Singapore actually somewhat lacks minimum wage laws, but has life long education/vocational education set ups running, which aren't carried out by their military. Perhaps other countries should consider it, especially if automation does become more of a concern.

Questions that are important to ask though is why does Iran partner with China and why does it even (allegedly) want nuclear weapons, which are costly to produce?
China imports a significant amount of oil from Iran, and is actively involved in developing Iran's oil/gas industry.
Does Iran's further industry expansion potentially threaten US interests? Is that why Iran feel they'll need the clout having nuclear weapons provides (assuming they do have intentions to make weapons)? Or is it because of ideological/religious reasons?
Understanding intentions is important when determining justifications for hundreds of billions that could potentially be spent on a war.
I'm not naive enough to think that China and the US are always going to get along, I understand if US shows weakness, they will be taken advantage of. But there are significant social problems developing in the US (and I suspect China may experience something similar too).
