I have not personally hunted any gems myself yet. You just start with where you are at, look up what kind of precious stones there are to prospect in your area if there are even any. I'm just a collector, which is why I plan to get rich and just buy whatever other people find. I really like jade a lot, which is kind of hard to find good material for carving, it's so time consuming that it is worth it to but other peoples stones of you have the money. Otherwise most carvers are limited to what they can afford from their sales, I just want to pursue it for fun for a while until I'm confident enough to sell my work.

If you go to shop for good jade, go look for jade carving Facebook groups. That's where you will find the most useful info and most genuine stones, there a lot of fake/altered stones on the market.

I'm a 300 linklet. I'll be cashing out 50 of them at $1kEOY and joining a stakepool with the rest.
I'll use the $50k to pay for my gender reassignment surgeries and immediately quit my full time job. With the remaining 250 linkies in a stakepool I'll draw about 18 linkies per year, so $1500/month pretaxes that will keep growing as Link grows.
