That's kind of a dumb way to look at it, one of the biggest problems with making gains is that coins pump together, so getting 2 5xs (and thus a 25x) in a row is very tricky. Link enabled you to 3x WHILE 10xing, which is crazy valuable since it pumped 3x more than BTC did.

The problem with reddit is that it only shows the general public the most upvoted posts. Posts are only upvoted if they are easy to understand and lack the jargon that is used by experienced investors and educated people since the average person is dumb and doesn't research. So the smartest posts have no attention while typical shill and hype posts garner the most attention, hence most people on reddit perceive these kinds of posts as truth since they are constantly exposed to it. Any serious and technical discussion about crypto is ignored so promising coins never reach the public eye until it's too late and it's already about to dump after a good long pump. Since there are so many people on reddit, most of them will be novices who lack the aforementioned experience and education. Not that Jow Forums is particularly qualified either, but it's surely more open to discussion and the users are more exposed to the diversity of thought, hence promising coins will gain attention here and are bought early
