Bitcoin-based second layer systems that depend on the mainchain being available for dispute resolution is the red pill. Liquid network is cool as heck. Mainchain depending on said dispute resolution being used just enough to feed the miners is a Good Thing. The fact that people who transact have to pay for the security of holders is great. There are no incentive issues in bitcoin. Praise theymos.

in fact bitcoin's plan makes the most sense if you actually read and understand what they're doing
it's foolish to look 10 years into the future and claim it failed when merged mined sidechains and consolidation of 10,000s of transactions into one come into play for each mainchan transaction
all of a sudden a large transaction fee makes sense and at the same time everyone can verify and propagate those transactions across the network keeping it true to form decentralized distributed verifiable
