Pretty sure it is or was how bitfinex were backing tether with “assets”.
Longs on coins were counted as their assets. It was simple as owning almost all the long positions on a stable no news coin which they owned lots of(due to it being a btc fork). Not to mention the guys who run BTG are taiwan based as is a lot of bitfinex.
So they own a lot of longs and when they pump they essential make free money.
