You can't install window ACs in Europe, due to how windows are designed. It's awful. Burgers take aircondition for granted, but because of these interior design standards we literally can't get AC in our homes.

Central AC is keeping me and my family cool and comfy in Virginia. I can tolerate heat but today was bad.

Not every American house has perfect AC ready windows. Lot of people have to use plywood and tape to get it in there. All else fails there are floor units where you only need an exhaust out the window.

All houses have central heating from Radiators due to the generally colder climate Often one in every room. This of course great in winter but does nothing in summer.

This is from Northern Europe perspective, where we have short summers that are seemingly getting hotter lately.

Getting hotter by me too. We keep losing trees, insects aren't being killed off in the winter anymore (too warm) so they can damage trees year round. Feels bad man.

We are limited to the portable AC market, which is terrible. A portable single hose unit such as pic related costs $600-900 here and not only is the cooling not all that effective (it's OK for smaller rooms I guess, but for a whole apartment no way) it is unbelievably noisy.

Only real solution we have. Price is crazy and it sucks ass.

I guess Denmark is backwater now. We aren't used to hot summers and literally nobody has AC except large retail stores, hotels and such. Probably different if you live in Spain or France.

Summer days often look like pic related, but last couple of years I'd have days where I'd kill for an AC.

I keep my house @ 76-78F in a 3000 SQ foot house, and my electric bill doesn't go above 200$, although we do have good cloud cover.

I live in switzerland and for some countries its just not worth the cost to install an AC for like 2-4 weeks of really hot weather. They only have them in public transportation, some enterprises and public buildings + shopping malls.
